Experimental research on male domestic animals (boars, bulls) proved the effectiveness of using the complex drug ‘Karafand+OV,Zn’ to increase their reproductive capacity. This preparation contains carotenoids, biologically active substances from the rhizome of marsh calamus and nanoparticles of orthovanadate gadolinium activated by europium and zinc carbonate. It was observed that the introduction of the drug increased the activity of antioxidant protection — catalase activity in the serum and erythrocytes in boars by 15.9% (p < 0.01) and 11.4% (p < 0.05), in bulls — by 7.3% (p < 0.05) and 12.4% (p < 0.01), respectively, and SOD in boars by 30.2% (p < 0.01), in bulls — by 16.5% (P <0.05) — when reducing the intensity of lipoperoxidation processes (reducing the amount of TBA-AP in the serum and erythrocytes of males — in boars by 19.4% (p < 0.05) and 16.9% (p < 0.001), in bulls — by 25% (p < 0.05) and by 12.4% (p < 0.01), respectively. There was an improvement in sperm quality (especially in terms of motility and content of sperm with morphological abnormalities) and endocrine function of the testes — testosterone levels increased by 16.8% in boars (p < 0.05), and in bulls — by 44.3 % (p < 0.001). At the same time, there was an increase in protein-vitamin-mineral metabolism in the body: the amount of vitamin A reliably increased in boars by 14.5% (p < 0.001), in bulls — by 7.6% (p < 0.05), and the content of zinc — in boars by 36.5% (p < 0.001), in bulls — by 16.0% (p < 0.01), the amount of total protein, calcium and phosphorus also increased. Thus, the obtained results allow us to recommend the complex drug ‘Karafand+OV,Zn’ as an effective means for increasing the reproductive capacity of males with pronounced sperm-modeling and androgen-stimulating effects and powerful antioxidant properties

Oxidative stress as a leading factor of male infertility requires correction with modern pharmacological agents, particularly redox-active nanoparticles, to improve sperm quality and hormonal balance. The current experimental study aimed to investigate the effect of orthovanadate nanoparticles of rare earth elements, particularly Gadolinium, with pronounced redox properties on the reproductive function of male rabbits under oxidative stress. A total of 36 mature male Hyla rabbits were divided into three groups of intact control (n = 12) and two experimental groups, including rabbits ubder oxidative stress (n = 12), induced by the introduction of tert-Butyl hydroperoxide, and those under oxidative stress plus hydrosol of gadolinium orthovanadate nanoparticles (NPs, n = 12) intake for 14 days. There were four rabbits per three replicates in each group. Animals of all groups were kept on the same diet and had free access to water. The use of NPs led to an improvement in sperm quality indicators. There was an improvement in motility and ejaculate volume indicators (by 14.6% and 39.2%, respectively), a reduction of the content of morphologically abnormal sperm by 26.7%; normalization of sex hormones, an increase in the level of total testosterone (by 113%) with a decrease in 17-β-estradiol (by 16.5%). This sex hormones improvement led to an increase in the androgen saturation of the rabbit’s body (free androgen index at the end of the experiment was 36.5%). The obtained changes were accompanied by a decrease in the oxidative load, as evidenced by a reduced content of diene conjugates and thio-barbituric acid-reactive compounds in the blood serum of rabbits by 30.4% and 26.8%, compared to the control. At the same time, there was an increase in the antioxidant potential, especially its glutathione link – the activity of glutathione peroxidase and glutathione reductase (by 42.5% and 34.2%, respectively), and the content of reduced glutathione increased by 62.3%, compared to the indicators before the introduction of NPs. The results of the study confirmed the effectiveness of using gadolinium orthovanadate NPs to correct the reproductive function of males under oxidative stress.

The search for effec ve and safe means for correc ng male hypofer lity is an urgent problem of modern reproductology. Researchers have proved the possibility of the use of nanopar cles based on oxides of rare-earth elements for the treatment of disorders of male reproduc ve func on. We inves gated the effec veness of the use of gadolinium orthovanadate nanopar cles ac vated by europium, the size of which was 25×8 nm in the dose of 0.0125 mg per kg of live weight to correct reproduc ve ability decrease in boars under oxida ve stress. A er 14 days of hydrosol nanopar cles administra on, we experimentally established the dynamics of the content of oxida ve stress markers and stable metabolites in the nitrogen oxide cycle, and also determined the changes in sperm quality indicators. Thus, conjugated dienes concentra on in the blood serum of boars on the 15th day tended to decrease, and on the 30th day of the study was lower by 9.4% compared with the group of animals before administra on. At the same me, the amount of thiobarbituric acid reac ve substances decreased on the 15th day of the study by 24.7%, and the 30th day -by 48.2%, which indicates the normaliza on of oxida ve processes in males.
