Samples of raw waste water is taken from the municipal sewer of Sumail district in Iraqi Kurdistan region and submitted to primary treatment by aeration to evaluate their validity for irrigation and potential health risks associated with this treated wastewater, Result revealed, (BOD) is improved by mechanical aeration, (COD) the aeration is not enough to bring it to safe ranges. Ammonia NH4 reduced by aeration from 24 to 18 mg/L as it converted to nitrite and nitrate by nitrifying bacteria in two-week period. the aeration removed about 2 third of TSS, TDS increase electrical conductivity of the water. TDS is reduced from 567 to 142 mg/l by aerating the water for 2 weeks. The content of heavy metal in all studied plants in almost cases are more than those irrigated by tap fresh drinking water. the content of essential micronutrients Mn, Cu, Fe and Zn in this study were elevated by treated wastewater, but all remain within the permissible limit in plant. Target hazard quotient (THQ) for cadmium in wheat is > 1 and the risks of cancer appearance in children is very high. Whereas the lead is worse than cadmium for children and the all studied plants has (THQ) >1 and associated with cancer risk in children if has been irrigated with wastewater or even treated wastewater.

Introduction: Bali, as an international tourist destination, is still experiencing problems in waste management. Suwung Landfill, Denpasar, is one of the landfills for waste originating from the Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar, and Tabanan (Sarbagita) areas. Methods: This research was an experimental study, by watering eco-enzymes on garbage heaps and examining changes in leachate parameters. Watering was carried out daily at a dose of 1 L of eco-enzyme dissolved in 1000 L of water and used for watering a garbage pile of 1 ha. The area of piles of garbage watered with eco-enzymes reaches 5 ha. Measured leachate parameters include pH, BOD, COD, TSS, N, cadmium, and mercury. Results and Discussion: Eco-enzymes have the potential to become activators or decomposers in waste composting. The evidence is that eco-enzyme watering causes the average leachate temperature to range from 36.63 to 40.370C, where the increase in leachate temperature occurs due to the rise in the temperature of the garbage pile. An increase in temperature characterizes the activity of microbes increases, so the decomposition process becomes rapid. Conclusion: Eco-enzyme spraying leads to a characteristic change in the form of an increase in the value of leachate parameters. The increase in temperature value, pH, BOD, COD, and N content of leachate indicates that environmentally friendly enzymes accelerate the decomposition of organic matter. The rapid decomposition process causes the total suspended density of leachate to increase.

One possible source of fresh water is rainfall. Nonetheless, the natural composition of rainwater may change due to air pollution in any areas. The Kwashe and Gara in the Duhok Governorate, in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, was selected as the study areas. Heavy metals concentration of rainwater was investigated. Seven samples were taken during rainy January and February 2023 for this investigation, and a statistical analysis was carried out to identify the factors influencing the quality of the rainwater. The concentrations of heavy metals (Zn, Pb, Ni, Cr, Cd, Mn, Cu, Fe, and Co) were measured with an atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) and compared to WHO standards. The purpose of the study was to compare the heavy metal content of study area rainwater to WHO standards in order to determine the effects of these metals on community members' individual health as well as the environment. The heavy metal concentrations dropped in the following order: (Zn, Pb, Ni, Cr, Cd, Mn, Cu, Fe, and Co in Kwashe and Zn > Ni > Cu > Pb > Cr > Fe > Mn > Cd > Co in Gara). The following heavy metals are within the WHO's permissible limit: Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn, and Co; the others exceeded it. The results indicate that the rainwater sources in the study areas are unsafe and unfit for human consumption. Because of this, rainwater from research areas needs to be treated before drinking in order to prevent Pb, Cd, Ni, and Cr-related health problems.
