The inventory of fish species is required in developing a fisheries control plan, knowing the fish distribution and the potential of fishes as a basis for water spatial planning. This research aims to evaluate the fish diversity of freshwater fishes in Aceh Tamiang. An explorative study was conducted to investigate freshwater fishes in rivers, reservoirs, and other lotic and lentic ecosystems. Specimens were catched using fishing net, gill net and fish trap. The sampling locations were spread over 10 villages and data were collected from July to August 2023. The water quality parameters observed were temperature, pH, DO and brightness. This study reported a total of 26 species belonging to 11 families including: Cyprinidae, Osphronemidae, Cichlidae, Channidae, Synbranchidae, Clariidae, Zenachopteridae, Bagridae, Anabantidae, Nandidae, and Eleotridae. Whereas Cyprinidae and Osphronemidae are the most dominant families found. Morphometric of body weight varied from 0.6 to 156 g and total length 4.6 to 23.6 cm. The factor condition ranged of 0.26 to 7.95. This study showed the diversities of fishes in Aceh Tamiang which may be important for fisheries management. Furthermore, it serves as a basis for future efforts in domesticating freshwater fish in Aceh.

Sungai Mati merupakan salah satu sungai yang terletak di desa Alur Cucur, kecamatan Rantau Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang, yang masih terjaga dengan baik, akan tetapi hingga saat ini belum ada informasi tentang keanekaragaman jenis ikan di sungai tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman dan kelimpahan jenis ikan di sungai mati Alur Cucur. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survey, yakni dengan menangkap ikan secara langsung menggunakan pancing dan bubu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 9 spesies ikan yang tertangkap yaitu: Osphronemus gouramy, Channa striata, Oreochromis niloticus, Clarias gariepinus, Mystacoleucus padangensis, Rasbora argyrotaenia, Pristolepis grootii, Betta Sp., dan Dermogenys orientalis. Nilai kelimpahan relatif tertinggi terdapat pada Oreochromis niloticus (29,84%), sedangkan nilai terendah pada Pristolepis grootii dan Channa striata (0,81%). Analisis indeks keanekaragaman menunjukkan semua spesies tergolong dalam kategori sedang dengan nilai 1,53-1,59. Hasil perhitungan indeks dominansi berkisar antara 0,21-0,26 tergolong dalam kategorikan rendah. Sedangkan faktor kondisi berada pada kisaran 0,59-2,94.

The trend of research and development of technological advancement in thermal insulators involves using renewable materials, selecting manufacturing processes that require the lowest possible energy, or using waste materials that may help subdue the reduction of petroleum reserves. This review discusses the potential substitution of petroleum by natural materials in thermal insulation manufacturing. This review presents an overview of the definition, properties, materials, and methods that can be used in the manufacture of thermal insulators based on results reported in the literature. Many materials are currently being investigated to produce thermal insulator such as cellulose. Cellulose fiber has a big potential to be used in the manufacture of thermal insulators because cellulose possesses many advantageous properties over petroleum-based polymers, i.e. biocompatibility, biodegradability, thermal stability, chemical stability, and low cost. Another material that may be used is silica, as it has high temperature resistance and low thermal expansion. Bagasse containing high cellulose and silica with the composition of 32-44% cellulose and 55.5%-70% silica. Therefore, bagasse proves appealing to be processed into thermal insulator. Aerogels are among the best thermal insulating materials known. This review proposes the impregnation method followed by the ambient pressure drying (APD) method to synthesize cellulose-silica aerogel. The impregnation of silica into cellulose aerogel will increase mechanical strength, flexibility, and the resulting silica-cellulose aerogel will be transparent with a very low thermal conductivity.
