In the 21st century the advantages of electronic dictionaries have been widely acknowledged. Electronic dictionaries form an important branch of contemporary lexicography, however, in general English-Latvian lexicography print dictionaries still outnumber the electronic ones since there is only one large English-Latvian dictionary with complex microstructure and two differing user interfaces that is available in the electronic medium. The aim of the study is to analyse the major general English-Latvian electronic dictionary, determine its type and assess the compliance of this dictionary with the standards of contemporary electronic lexicography. The analysis focuses on the evaluation of dictionary microstructure, the accessibility of information, the adaptability of user interface, the use of dictionary-internal and external links and the sources of lexicographical data in the general English-Latvian electronic dictionary. The analysis reveals that even though the microstructure of the electronic dictionary is essentially based on a print dictionary, it has been supplemented by information from various other sources. The dictionary applies some innovative features of contemporary electronic lexicography, but various improvements related to the presentation of some metalinguistic elements, unity of microstructure, diversity of search options, use of dictionary-internal and external links, application of corpus data and multimodality would be necessary to enhance its correspondence to the standards of contemporary electronic lexicography.

Die AWS is 'n normatiewe naslaanwerk oor spelling, waarvan die doel is om gebruikers te help met teksproduksie en tekskorrigering. In hierdie artikel word die soekvraag van die potensiële gebruiker as uitgangspunt geneem om die AWS in terme van sy funksies te evalueer. Daar word eerstens gekyk na verskillende moontlike motiverings vir lemmaseleksie. Hoewel korpora nuttig kan wees, moet dit volgens Asmussen (2013:1081) met omsigtigheid geraadpleeg word. By e-woordeboeke kan log-lêer-analise data verskaf oor watter leksikale items deur gebruikers nageslaan word, hoewel dit nie kan bevestig of die gebruikers dit as suksesvolle konsultasie ervaar het nie (Nesi 2013:65). Navorsers soos Wiegand (2001:235), Helbig en Osswald (2013:1141), Barnhart (1967:161), Tarp (2013:463), Storrer (2013:1245) en Müller-Spitzer (2013:369) het die waarde van die soekvraag as belangrike element by die saamstel van naslaanwerke bevestig. Die AWS gee aandag aan 'n wye verskeidenheid tipiese spelprobleme. Die navorser ondersoek dan ook, aan die hand van 40 soekvrae, tipiese vrae wat gebruikers sou kon vra. Daar word bevind dat die AWS tans die meeste van hierdie vrae beantwoord, hetsy in die woordelys of in die spelreëlgedeelte, maar dat daar steeds onbeantwoorde vrae is, veral met betrekking tot kosterme.

Este artículo presenta la herramienta en línea HARTA (http://www.dicesp.com:8083/), que combina diccionario y corpus, acorde con la corriente de los últimos años en lexicografía. HARTA se centra en las combinaciones léxicas académicas (CLA) en español. Las CLA abarcan fenómenos de naturaleza variada: tanto colocaciones (confirmar/refutar una hipótesis) como lo que hemos englobado bajo el término de fórmulas (sin embargo, por otra parte, como ya hemos señalado, etc.). Con el término de CLA, por tanto, nos referimos a segmentos de palabras recurrentes en el discurso académico, que pueden ser o no composicionales y que pueden cumplir una función discursiva (‘comparar’, ‘reformular’, ‘expresar certeza o posibilidad’, etc.), como es el caso de las fórmulas. Para su descripción, además de apoyarnos en la Teoría Sentido-Texto, aportamos datos cuantitativos del corpus académico del que hemos extraído la lista de CLA (frecuencia y distribución en diferentes campos científicos). Una vez presentada la metodología con la que hemos obtenido los datos, describimos la arquitectura de HARTA para mostrar diferentes entradas de CLA y los diversos modos de acceder a la información. Antes de finalizar con las líneas de investigación en curso, ofrecemos un pequeño estudio experimental sobre la usabilidad de la herramienta.
