3D survey and virtual reconstruction of heritage. The case study of the City Council and Lonja of Alcañiz

Abstract: With current data acquisition techniques, exhaustive documentation of patrimonial goods is generated, which allows obtaining a 3D geometric model, on which data from research from research is generated. As in other fields of architecture, the latest graphic techniques and manipulation of the image, allow a working methodology other than the current one in the patrimonial field. The information systems have been evolving towards technologies developed with open source software, the use of standards, ontologies … Show more

“…A vast amount of standardised vocabulary could engender the automatic extraction of elements [156]. Hence, it is not surprising that a number of papers mention the inclusion of ontologies such as CIDOC-CRM (now ISO 21127 [157]), which is the standard for the cataloguing of data for museum collections [14,81,124,135,146,158]. The most successful implementation of ontologies for the structuring of semantic data seems to occur when multiple ontologies are used, as presented in the work by [95], who combined the Getty Art and Architecture Thesaurus (AAT), CIDOC-CRM, IFC, CityGML in addition to a castle nomenclature dictionary.…”

“…This work aims to triggering some theoretical insights and operational procedures toward an integrated approach for reliable assessment and compatible intervention on such heritage, based on understanding the original constructive and performance requirements of an architectural unicum of resilient materials and techniques and defining general principles and remedies for the degradation factors affecting these elements nowadays. Particularly, in order to address general principles and remedies for the degradation factors affecting these elements nowadays, the paramount role of digital methodologies, based on aerial photogrammetry survey and modelling, is herein outlined, since they enable low-intrusive, time-effective and extensive investigation of the whole structure-envelope-coating system, in typical conditions of low accessibility of surfaces and complex spatiality of interiors and exteriors (Baranwal, 2020;Federman, 2018;Percy, 2015;Quintilla, 2021;Miceli, 2020).…”
