A fluência é uma habilidade que envolve a participação de múltiplos sistemas neurais, principalmente, dos processamentos da linguagem, fala, voz e audição. Tais interfaces justificam a necessidade de considerar na dinâmica avaliativa fonoaudiológica, suas interações com os demais conteúdos específicos da Fonoaudiologia. O presente artigo de cunho teórico, consiste em uma revisão não-sistemática da literatura que objetiva discutir acerca do processo de avaliação fonoaudiológica da fluência, mediante uma perspectiva de integralidade do cuidado. Tal discussão visa contribuir para a consolidação do caráter transversal da fluência na literatura nacional, coerente com a complexidade da sua natureza neurofisiológica; bem como favorecer ao fonoaudiólogo, informações e reflexões necessárias para a sua aplicabilidade em contexto prático. Para isso, estruturou-se esta comunicação em duas principais seções: apresentação do processo de avaliação da fluência, e discussão acerca da avaliação integrada da fluência. Dessa forma, conclui-se que, para uma avaliação fonoaudiológica integrada da fluência é necessário ir além da identificação das rupturas e realização dos cálculos de velocidade de fala. Requer conhecimento aprofundado sobre a natureza da fluência, enquanto habilidade e área da Fonoaudiologia, para o exercício do raciocínio clínico integrado que contemple a unicidade de cada sujeito, bem como suas necessidades comunicativas para além da queixa, vislumbrando a saúde da sua comunicação.

Purpose: to identify the Scale of Auditory Behaviors perception after an acoustically controlled auditory training program. Methods: 23 individuals of both genders, aged 6 to 15 years, participated in this study. Inclusion criteria: to present auditory thresholds lower than 20 dBHL between 250 and 8000Hz, type A tympanometry and diagnosis of central auditory processing disorder confirmed by behavioral tests with indication of acoustically controlled auditory training which was performed in ten one-hour sessions. Hearing tests in progressively adverse listening conditions were used. In the first and last session of the acoustically controlled auditory training program, the individuals were submitted to the Scale of Auditory Behaviors. The appropriate statistical tests were applied considering a p-value less than 0.05. Results: questions Q1, Q2, Q4, Q7, Q8 and Q11 showed statistically significant results and improvement in behaviors after the acoustically controlled auditory training. On the other hand, questions Q3 and Q10 showed a tendency towards significance and the total score in the post time period increased in relation to the pre-moment, pointing to a statistically significant difference that represents complaint reductions. Conclusion: the subjective perception of the individuals and their family members could be identified by the application of SAB in the pre and post auditory training, revealing an improvement in auditory and attention behaviors.

Adolescents' Self-Perception about Auditory Behavior: Agreement with Parents and Central Auditory Processing Evaluation

Introduction Central auditory processing disorder (CAPD) has been diagnosed through behavioral tests. Moreover, screening tools as validated questionnaires may contribute to identify individuals at risk for this disorder, including adolescents. Objective (1) to characterize and compare adolescents' self-perception regarding their auditory behavior with their parents' perception; (2) to verify their agreement with behavioral evaluation of central auditory processing (CAP). Methods Cross-sectional, prospective, and descriptive study, in which 40 adolescents and 40 parents of both genders participated. All participants answered the scale of auditory behaviors questionnaire, and the behavioral evaluation of CAP was conducted with the adolescents. Findings were analyzed descriptively and inferentially, with a significance level of 5% (p ≤ 0.05) and application of the following tests: Test for equality of two proportions, Chi-squared, and Kappa concordance index. Results Most adolescents rated their auditory behavior as “low risk” for CAPD while their parents rated it as “typical.” When comparing adolescents' self-perception and parents' perception about the auditory behavior with the behavioral evaluation outcome, a statistically significant difference was observed only in adolescents' self-perception. The results of the behavioral evaluation indicated that 42.5% of the adolescents showed alterations. The concordance index between adolescents' self-perception and parents' perception of auditory behavior showed a significant (minimal) difference. Conclusion Most adolescents were able to perceive difficulties regarding their auditory behavior and characterized it as “low risk” for CAPD, but the same did not occur regarding their parents. There was agreement only between the adolescents' self-perception and their performance in the behavioral evaluation of CAP.
