Facile Synthesis of a Pentiptycene-Based Highly Microporous Organic Polymer for Gas Storage and Water Treatment

Abstract: Rigid H-shaped pentiptycene units, with an intrinsic hierarchical structure, were employed to fabricate a highly microporous organic polymer sorbent via Friedel-Crafts reaction/polymerization. The obtained microporous polymer exhibits good thermal stability, a high Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area of 1604 m g, outstanding CO, H, and CH storage capacities, as well as good adsorption selectivities for the separation of CO/N and CO/CH gas pairs. The CO uptake values reached as high as 5.00 mmol g (1.0 bar and … Show more

“…Because of their excellent physical and chemical stability, high surface area, and easy functionality, COFs have a promising prospect in CO 2 capture [123]. There are several organic reactions for constructing COFs, including the formation of B\ \O (boronate, boroxine and borosilicate), C_N (imine, hydrazine, and squaraine), C\ \N (triazine and imidization), B\ \N (borazine) and N\ \N (azodioxides) bond linkages [124,125]. Several organic reactions are shown in Fig.…”

“…[25][26] A wide range of methods and technologies have been developed to remove aniline. [27][28][29][30] On the other hand, several type of nitrogen atom containing recyclable green switchable solvents are widely used for the extraction or separation of organic solvents. [31][32][33][34][35][36][37] However, most of the switchable solvents are amines that separate the desire product from the solvent mixtures through a phase transition process.…”

“…[41] Therefore, it is necessary to develop a convenient method and material with lower equipment costs for the separation of organic solvents. In this regard, adsorption using solid adsorbent is a quick and easy method, [27][28][29][30] and nitrogen functionalized COP can be the innovative solid adsorbent material with high adsorption capacity and selectivity for the organic solvent separation. The adsorption technique is demonstrated to be enhanced with a better adsorption capacity and selectivity due to the possible H-bonding, electrostatic and acid-base interaction between the surface functional groups on the COPs and adsorbates.…”
