This research evaluated the influence of different spatial arrangements on the growth of three Eucalyptus clones as well as the characteristics that influence the quality of the timber. The experiment was carried out at Embrapa-Beef Cattle station, Campo Grande city, Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil. The design was in randomized blocks in a factorial scheme (3 × 3) with plots subdivided by time and four repetitions. Three clones of Eucalyptus were used (Urocam VM1, Grancam 1277 and Urograndis I144), and there were three spatial arrangements (single, double and triple row). At 20 and 32 months after planting, the variables, total plant height, diameter at breast height (DBH), volume of timber per tree, volume of timber per hectare, straightness and forking, and cylindricity were evaluated. The spatial arrangements influenced the behavior of the genetic material, and the greatest tree heights were observed in the triple row arrangements. The single row arrangement provided greater gains in DBH. The Grancam clone stood out from the others in the characteristics of straightness and forking, independent of the spatial arrangement and time of evaluation. It was concluded that the volume of timber per tree and the volume of timber per hectare were associated with the planting density, low density results in lower volume.

As plantações de acácia-negra geram múltiplos produtos a partir de sua biomassa. Do fuste é retirada a casca, utilizada para a extração de taninos e também a madeira, na produção de celulose, carvão, pellets, lenha entre outros fins. A biomassa da copa pode ser utilizada para a geração de energia. Portanto, é importante conhecer os estoques de biomassa dos povoamentos de acácia-negra em seus diferentes componentes (copa e fuste). Assim, esta pesquisa teve como objetivo quantificar os estoques de biomassa dos povoamentos da espécie em idades: 0 a 2, 2 a 4, 4 a 6 e acima de 6 anos e em três diferentes locais de cultivo: Cristal, Encruzilhada do Sul e Piratini, de modo a verificar quão esses fatores interferem na produção de biomassa total e dos componentes: copa e fuste. Para tanto, procedeu-se com a amostragem de povoamentos comerciais da espécie. Os estoques de biomassa foram obtidos por meio de equações da literatura ajustadas para a mesma base de dados. Por meio das estimativas de biomassa obtidas nas parcelas foi possível gerar os estimadores para a unidade de área hectare. Os fatores idade e local influenciaram de forma distinta os estoques de biomassa total e dos componentes: copa e fuste. O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar o ponto ótimo de amostragem para a quantificação de nutrientes em árvores de Acacia mearnsii. O trabalho foi realizado em uma plantação com quatro anos de idade localizada na cidade de Arroio dos Ratos (RS), em uma fazenda pertencente à empresa Agroseta S.A., nas coordenadas 30°07’12” de latitude sul e 51°57’45” de longitude oeste, com altitude média de 90 m. Após o inventário florestal, foram abatidas 21 árvores, distribuídas em 7 classes diamétricas, sendo determinados a biomassa e o teor de micronutrientes dos componentes folha, galho vivo, galho morto, raiz, madeira e casca. Para os componentes madeira e casca foram retiradas amostras ao longo do fuste nas posições de 1, 3, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 e 90% da altura total das árvores. Os teores dos micronutrientes B, Cu, Fe, Mn e Zn não demonstraram variação significativa ao longo do fuste nos componentes madeira e casca, indicando que a amostragem para quantificação de nutrientes pode ser feita a qualquer altura. É possível a estimativa do estoque de micronutrientes por amostras coletadas no DAP aos 4 anos de idade. Recomenda-se para isso a utilização de trado, para não ser necessário derrubar as árvores amostradas.
