Show more

“…Table 7 shows values obtained by Paes et al (2011), Iwakiri et al (2010, and Okino et al (2000) for the same properties as those evaluated in the present research. Paes et al (2011) produced Pinus elliottii Engelm wood panels with bi-component polyurethane resin (PU). Iwakiri et al (2010) manufactured Pinus caribaea var.…”

“…The mean values of modulus of elasticity (MOE) of the particleboards (Table 2) did not reach the minimum value (2750 MPa) recommended by the A208-1-1999 standard 44 in any of the treatments, and the MOE value obtained at 130°C (2378.5 MPa) was 15.62% lower than that recommended by the aforementioned standard; however, all the values exceeded those recommended by the EN 312:2010 standard. Several researchers have reported low MOE values 16,26,30,41 , attributing this behavior to poor distribution of the adhesive during the compression of particleboards. The static bending tests showed statistical differences between the modulus of rupture (MOR) and of elasticity (MOE) as a function of the temperature.…”

“…Paes et al 30 evaluated the combined effect of pressure (2.0, 3.0, and 3.5 MPa) and temperature (50, 60, 90°C) applied to Pinus elliottii wood and COPR particleboard on the response variables: D AP , TS and WA (0-2h, 2-24, 0-24h), MOR, SP and IB. They concluded that the combination of 3.0 MPa and 90°C and of 3.5 MPa and 60°C produced the best results, and that the temperature at which pressure is applied is the most important variable in particleboard quality.…”

“…particles, commonly used in commercial particleboard. The manufacturing process followed the recommendations detailed by Paes et al (2011). Initially, the raw material was dried at room temperature until it reached a moisture content varying from 3 to 8%, minced in hammer mill, and classified in a vibrating screen with 8.0 mm and 4.0 mm mesh and < 4.0 mm (Collector), obtaining particles with grading of 8.0 > 4.0 mm.…”
