Landscape valuation based on the ecological requirements of ‘Tayassu pecari ‘ and ‘Tapirus terrestris’ – a forest with araucaria, in Paraná state, Brazil

Abstract: This study valuated the landscape of Lageado Grande farm (LGF), an area of 3,136.32 ha, located in General Carneiro, Palmas, and Bituruna, Paraná state, Brazil. The evaluation was based on an integral analysis of the ecological requirements of Tayassu pecari and Tapirus terrestris and the functional aspects of the LGF landscape. “…The T. terrestris was positively influenced by the environmental variables tested, except the DW, which had a negative influence. This species is known to be highly dependent on aquatic environments for regulation of the intestinal tract, thermoregulation, elimination of ectoparasites, and as shelter against predators [73,74]. In this study we observed a preference for regeneration areas, probably due to high abundance of food resources in these areas.…”

Além disso, o pinhão é o alimento mais importante durante o inverno para os animais que habitam a Floresta com Araucária, sendo excelente fonte de energia (Paise & Vieira, 2005;Vidolin et al, 2011).…”
