Bioskop Harewos is a cinema in the Bandung, West Java, intended for visually impaired audiences. This research focused on efforts to uncover the existence of Bioskop Harewos for the visually impaired and the model of watching films of visually impaired audiences in Bioskop Harewos. The research method was a qualitative case study using several theories and concepts for alternative media. This research collected various data from cinematographers, cinema managers, and Bioskop Harewos team and audiences through interviews. The results showed that Bioskop Harewos is an alternative media for visually impaired audiences in Bandung to watch films in cinemas. Even with the ‘Harewos’ system, the Bioskop Harewos had fulfilled the visually impaired audiences’ demands to watch films in the cinema. The technical limitations of Bioskop Harewos did not reduce the value of entertainment for visually impaired audiences.

Este trabalho apresenta um estudo exploratório embasado na Semântica de Frames (FILLMORE, 1982, 1985), que analisa as relações entre frames semânticos identificados no texto transcrito da audiodescrição (AD) e do áudio original de um trecho do curta-metragem brasileiro "Eu não quero voltar sozinho" (2010), de modo a contribuir para pesquisas da área de audiodescrição, da tradução audiovisual e dos estudos interessados no processamento semântico-computacional de objetos multimodais. O objetivo foi verificar como as relações entre frames da FrameNet, bem como as categorias designadas pelos frames de topo contribuem para entender o processo de articulação e/ou complementação semântica do recorte analisado do curta-metragem. Para isto, foi compilado um corpus comparável monolíngue composto por um excerto do texto transcrito da audiodescrição e do áudio original. A análise do corpus foi feita com o uso de planilhas em um editor online e de anotações semânticas feitas na plataforma Web Annotation Tool, pertencente à FrameNet Brasil. Os resultados mostram que a relação de Herança foi a mais encontrada entre os frames e que, em geral, os mesmos tipos de frames de topo são evocados no texto transcrito da audiodescrição e do áudio original do curta-metragem. Por outro lado, observou-se que o texto da audiodescrição possui poucas unidades lexicais que evocam frames herdeiros de Estado e que são relacionadas às emoções dos personagens, mostrando tendência para linguagem mais neutra.

Intersectional feminist translation provides visibility to the historically hidden or marginalized characters and narratives. This article interrogates the strategies we can apply to translate images into words, that is, to audio describe non-normative identities while adhering to the particularities of audiovisual productions. It poses the question of how to provide a feminist audio description that aligns with the creators’ intent. The objective of this study is to analyse the strategies applied to create a gender-conscious AD of a documentary on lesbophobia where ten women share their experiences as non-normative persons. They are defined by a series of intrinsic features such as race, gender expression or age and present a myriad of differences that have irremediably influenced their experience of lesbophobia and how society reads and identifies them. The visual contents in this documentary provide essential information that complements the understanding of the problem by people with visual impairment. This action research study analyses the challenges emerged during the AD production. It aims to emphasize the mediating power of AD professionals and how they influence the understanding of blind audiences.
