<b>Effect of feeding Thymolina® powder on the carcass characteristics and morphology of small intestine in ross 308 broiler chickens

Abstract: In the present experiment, 320 one day old Ross 308 broiler chickens were used completely randomized design with 4 treatments, 4 replicates, and each replicate contained 20 broiler chickens. Experimental treatments include control, 0.5, 1, and 2% of Thymolina powder in chickens' diet. Thymolina ® is an antibacterial powder drug which is made by composing 4 medicinal plants. A significant difference observed between treatments in each parameter of the Intestinal morphology (villus height, villus width, crypt de… Show more

“…As shown in Tables 7–8, these statistics and observed results agree well with the previous work reported by Hosseini et al. (2017) who found that Thymolina® powder decreased microbial activity in the terminal ileum, cecum, and colon, which would affect the development of these gut segments. On the whole, most of the significant differences of intestinal characteristics among broiler chicks fed with dietary green tea exist in these intestinal traits of right and left cecum of chicken, compared with the control groups (Tables 3–8).…”

“…In fact, some similar results to the experiment were also reported (Hosseini et al., 2017; Tzora et al., 2017). It was reported that Thymolina® powder could increase trypsin and amylase activity in the homogenate of pancreas and small intestine, and chime content in jejunum (Hosseini et al., 2017). However, Thymolina ® powder could reduce microbial activity in the terminal ileum, cecum, and colon (Hosseini et al., 2017).…”

“…All abdominal fat, including that around the rectum, gizzard and proventriculus was collected. Villi height, crypt depth, villi height:crypt depth ratio, villi width, thickness of epithelium and number of Goblet cells were estimated based on Hosseini et al (2017). In more detail, the gizzard was opened and weighed after its content was removed.…”
