Abstract: -(Richness and vertical stratification of vascular epiphytes in Jataí Ecological Station -a Southeast Brazilian Cerrado area). The richness and vertical stratification of vascular epiphytes was studied in Jataí Ecological Station (EEJ), São Paulo State, Brazil. A total of 1,574 epiphytes were recorded, corresponding to 29 species, 20 genera, and seven families. Angiosperms were represented by 23 species and Pteridophytes by six species. The characteristic form, holoepiphytes, was dominant in the area (93.1%). … Show more

“…(Werneck & Espírito-Santo 2002), were considered, or when the epiphyte flora associated with different species of phorophytes was considered (Alves et al 2008). In both cases, the factor that contributed most to the lower species richness in these environments seems to be related to the Cerrado Domain, which supports a lower epiphytic richness than is found in the Atlantic Domain (Bataghin et al 2012). However, trunks of Vellozia are colonised by specific epiphytes of inselbergs and rocky fields (Porembski 2005), supporting an endemic epiphytic flora of rupestrian ecosystems of Orchidaceae (e.g.…”

“…Richness of epiphytes in Touro and Tarumã forests is lower than that in other Atlantic Forest regions with less seasonality and higher annual rainfall than in our study site (1600 mm), as indeed expected since humidity has been regarded as a main factor affecting epiphytic growth (Fischer & Araujo 1995, Rogalski & Zanin 2003, Bataghin et al 2012Forzza et al 2014). Likewise, epiphytes were richer and more abundant in swampy than in non-flooded habitat at the study site probably due to higher humidity in the former.…”

Microgramma squamulosa (Kaulf.)…”
