Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar o impacto psicológico da cirurgia plástica em mulheres submetidas à mastectomia. Trata-se de um estudo exploratório, descritivo de abordagem qualitativa. A pesquisa contou com a participação de sete mulheres, devido à saturação dos dados coletados, que se deu através de uma entrevista semiestruturada com perguntas norteadoras. Para a análise dos dados, utilizou-se o método de análise de conteúdo. A partir das falas, foi possível identificar 2 categorias: sentimentos da mulher frente à reconstrução da mama e a influência do outro na percepção da mulher no processo de ressignificar. Na primeira categoria, agruparam-se falas que revelaram os sentimentos das mulheres frente ao processo de reparação da mama nos diversos recursos e procedimentos clínicos e/ou cirúrgico. As entrevistadas relataram sentimentos de medo, insatisfação, vergonha, alegria, sofrimento, satisfação, depressão, perda e dor. Na segunda categoria, as mulheres relataram que o olhar do outro e o apoio das pessoas que as cercam têm um grande peso no processo de enfrentamento da mudança física, e na sua percepção de ver a si próprio. A pesquisa ressaltou a importância da cirurgia plástica da mama pós-mastectomia por trazer benefícios na vida da mulher, na sua aceitação e reconstrução de sua vida após a superação do diagnóstico e tratamento do câncer de mama, mas também questiona quais os sentimentos dessa mulher como um todo frente a esse processo. ABCTRACT This study aimed to analyze the psychological impacts of breast reconstruction surgery in women undergoing breast cancer surgery. The research involved seven mastectomized women submitted to plastic surgery for breast reconstruction. Data collection took place through a semi-structured interview with guiding questions. For the analysis of the data, the content analysis method was used. From the speeches, it was possible to identify two categories: woman's feelings about breast reconstruction and the influence of the other on the woman's perception in the process of resignification. In the first category, statements were grouped that revealed the feelings of women facing the process of breast repair in the various resources and clinical and / or surgical procedures. They reported feelings of fear, dissatisfaction, shame, joy, suffering, satisfaction, depression, loss and much pains. In the second category, the women reported that the gaze of the other and the support of the people that surround them have a great weight in the process of facing physical change, and in their perception of sees herself. These categories elucidate the various feelings, dissatisfaction, fears and overcoming of the new post-surgery moment of breast cancer in their lives. The reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery is a major breakthrough for the treatment of women fighting cancer. An advantage for the patient is the reduction of surgical treatment to one professional, besides the psychological and aesthetic relief of having her breast comfortably reconstructed by the doctor who is already accompanying her in the treatment of the disease. Considering the advances in oncological breast surgery, fhe ideal surgical procedure is one that achieves local control of the disease by maintaining the symmetry of the breast with immediate reconstruction. Plastic surgery techniques can be used in breast cancer surgery. The original focus is on improving the quality of life of oncological patients undergoing treatments that may be more effective in the aesthetic and functional point of view from the perspective of traditional techniques of breast conservation. Formation and training of professionals able to treat breast cancer is an innovative concept that brings discussions to the scientific community. Specific studies are required to standardize oncoplastic training. Training in reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery also brings about new perspectives of surgical research related to aesthetic results, quality of life and local control, as well as the optimization of operative time, reducing adverse effects and costs. This study aimed to evaluate the main existing techniques, the training time for specialization in the context of Brazilian reality and whether it is necessary to change the current training model. This review is based on the conviction shown in other publishing studies (in press), which demonstrate the best way and the best work load for the improvement of the mastologist regarding oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgeries.
