Alterações da pressão de pico inspiratório e do volume corrente fornecidos por reanimadores manuais com balão auto-inflável em função do fluxo de entrada de oxigênio utilizado

Abstract: Objective: To assess possible alterations in the tidal volume and peak inspiratory pressure delivered by seven models of manually operated self-inflating resuscitation bags as a function of the oxygen supply rate used. Methods: The resuscitation bags tested were the following: Oxigel, models A and B; CE Reanimadores; ProtecSolutions; Missouri; Axmed; and Narcosul. For the measurements, a wall oxygen flow meter, a flow meter/respirometer, a resuscitation bag, a sensor (Tracer 5 unit), and a test lung were conne… Show more

“…Nevertheless, the use of a source of gas connected to a self-inflating bag with oxygen input directly inside the bag may have an important influence on the value of respiratory parameters. 30 Furthermore, ventilatory parameters may be affected by the use of a reservoir, and by the maximum capacity and compliance of the bag.…”

“…( 5 , 12 , 13 ) Although those studies investigated important characteristics, such as the oxygen fraction delivered by MRs with and without an oxygen reservoir, the present study evaluated other equally important properties that had not yet been reported in the national literature.…”

“…( 5 , 12 , 13 ) Embora esses estudos tenham investigado características importantes, como, por exemplo, a fração de oxigênio ofertada pelos RMs com e sem o reservatório de oxigênio, o presente estudo avaliou outras propriedades igualmente importantes que ainda não haviam sido relatadas na literatura nacional.…”

“…A BVM has four parts: exhalation port, patient valve, self-inflated bag, and an oxygen inlet. Optional components include a positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) valve, an oxygen reservoir, and a pressure gauge [6]. Figure 1A presents a mechanical diagram of BVM components and is intended for engineering purposes.…”
