An unanswered question in pediatric urology: the post pubertal persistence of prepubertal congenital penile curvature correction by tunical plication

Abstract: Objective:The aim of this study is to analyze post pubertal results of pre pubertal tunica albuginea plication with non-absorbable sutures in the correction of CPC.Materials and Methods:The files of patients who underwent tunica albuginea plication without incision (dorsal/lateral) were retrospectively reviewed. Patients younger than 13 years of age at the time of operation and older than 14 years of age in November 2015 were included. Patients with a penile curvature of less than 30 degrees & more than 45 deg… Show more

“…In some patients, the curvature may be associated with penile rotation. CPC incidence ranges between 0.04% and 0.6%, and in 50% of cases, the curvature is ventral (Ozkuvanci et al, 2017). The curvature could only be seen during erection, spontaneously or drug-induced, and, depending on…”

“…While there was no recurrence in six patients, seven patients had recurrent curvature between 30° and 50° after puberty. None of the 13 patients included in the study had early complications and no patients reported any complaints of erectile dysfunction (Ozkuvanci et al., 2017).…”

“…1 A proportion of boys will present to their pediatric urologist with CPC, and the data remains formative as to the optimal timing for surgical intervention in this group. [109][110][111] A focused history and physical examination establishes the diagnosis of CPC. Unlike Peyronie's disease, congenital penile curvatures are most commonly ventral curvatures, with erectile function and rigidity typically normal, and with preserved penile length.…”
