The free exchange, trade or catira is still an important form of circulation of goods in various communities of Brazil. However, its practitioners and all practical knowledge are still marginalized in management studies, under the justification that these practitioners would be amateurs, devoid of rationality and technical knowledge. This paper analyzes the identity construction of Brazilian catireiros to understand what types of rationality guide their trading practices. To this end, we interviewed 31 traders currently residing in Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba regions, and the data collected were analyzed through French Discourse Analysis. The research pointed out that catireiros initially sought to identify and distinguish themselves from others using nouns, hence demonstrating who they are. Subsequently, the respondents used verbs that characterize their everyday catira practices, hence demonstrating what they are. In this sense, actions such as establishing contacts, getting to know people, negotiating, and understanding the market are some practices that constitute, (re)construct, and materialize the daily identities of such workers. It is also important to highlight that catireiros can also exercise different types of rationalities in different social contexts and although many have not achieved higher education, they should not have their trading practices delegitimized by the academia, since it is from these practices that they live, raise their families, and expand their business.

RESUMOO presente trabalho teórico-empírico teve por objetivo compreender quais seriam as representações sociais da carreira do administrador projetadas por estudantes que acabaram de escolher essa profissão. Com isso buscou-se, por meio de um roteiro diretivo, aplicado individualmente a estudantes de duas turmas de ingressantes do curso de Administração da UFMG, que os mesmos relatassem como projetavam sua ascensão profissional num período de aproximadamente dez anos após o término de seu curso de graduação. Para fundamentar a pesquisa e sua análise, utilizou-se no referencial teórico a teoria das representações sociais e da identidade profissional. Como estratégia de pesquisa, recorreu-se a triangulações entre dados quantitativos e qualitativos, e para análise dos dados utilizou-se a técnica de Análise de Conteúdo. Pode-se constatar que a maioria dos estudantes relatou grande preocupação com a realização de cursos de pós-graduação, que buscam nas grandes empresas seu maior desejo de experiências profissionais e projetam a constituição de estruturas familiares sólidas e convencionais. Ainda, pode-se perceber que este grupo de estudantes operou representações compartilhadas sobre o significado simbólico da carreira de administrador, com vistas ao sucesso, o status e o modo de vida socialmente relacionado à profissão do administrador.Palavras-Chave: imaginário; representação social; identidade; projeção; administração.

O presente trabalho teórico-empíri-co teve por objetivo compreender o processo de formação da identidade coletiva do Fórum Social Mundial (FSM). Entende-se que tal identidade, congrega uma série de outras identidades individuais e coletivas, estando o significado do FSM em constante construção e negociação. Ademais, a análise identitária deve se pautar pela conjuntura macrossocial no qual o FSM surge e se mantém. Para realizar a pesquisa, foram usados dados secundá-rios longitudinais que formaram dois conjuntos discursivos distintos, referentes a duas instâncias formadoras da identidade do Fórum: o discurso oficial do FSM, e o discurso do sociólogo Boaventura de Sousa Santos. Os resultados, extraídos com base na Análise do Discurso (AD), demonstraram continuidades e rupturas identitárias, assim como contradições e consistências, revelando a complexidade da identidade coletiva do FSM e elementos da cultura política na contemporaneidade. Palavras-chave:Identidades Coletivas -Fó-rum Social Mundial -Movimentos Sociais.This theoretical and empirical work aimed at understanding the process of formation of collective identity of the World Social Forum (WSF). It is understood that such an identity, bringing together a number of other individual and collective identities, with the significance of the WSF in constant construction and negotiation. Furthermore, the analysis of identity should be guided by the overall macro in which the WSF comes and remains. To conduct the research, we used longitudinal secondary data sets that formed two distinct discourses, referring to two instances forming the identity of the Forum: the official discourse of the Forum, and the discourse of the sociologist Boaventura de Sousa Santos. The results, taken on the basis of Discourse Analysis (DA) showed continuities and ruptures of identity, as well as consistencies and contradictions, revealing the complexity of the collective identity of the WSF and elements of political culture in contemporary society.
