Purpose: to analyze the correlation between the classification of speech therapy findings on screening with the results of specific assessments of each area in a speech therapy school clinic in southern Brazil. Methods: a descriptive, retrospective study of the cross-sectional cut from secondary data collected from medical records of 133 children under 12 years old. The complaints classification found during screening were compared with the diagnoses assigned after evaluation. They were classified into 3 groups: Group 1 -totally in agreement: When the complaints and diagnoses identical in number and classification, Group 2 -Partially disagree: Equal complaints and diagnoses, however, are others disagreeing in number or in the area of Speech Therapy and Group 3 -Complete disagreement: When there was disagreement on complaints and / or diagnosis, in number and classification. Results: the prevalence was 61 % for males. The average age was seven years and two months. There was no significant difference between the values of groups 1 and 2, 47.4 % and 46.6 % respectively. Group 3 had only 6 %. The complaints that were reported during screening were classified in Orofacial Motricity (34.9 %) , Speech (23.1 %) , Language (13.4%) and Phonology (8.6%). The most frequent diagnoses were : Orofacial Motricity (39.8%) , Phonology (20.4%), Language (11.8%), Speech (6.5%) . The complaints and diagnoses that had higher agreement were: Phonology, Orofacial Motricity, Stuttering and Language. The complaint of voice showed a greater disagreement. Conclusion

Objective: to characterize the care provided at a Speech Therapy School Clinic affiliated with the Brazilian public healthcare system, in 2016. Methods: a cross-sectional study was conducted with data from screening, discharge, discontinuation and medical records. Sociodemographic and clinical variables were assessed, by measuring waiting time and specialty. The reasons for treatment discontinuation were also investigated. The data were presented in tables and expressed as absolute and relative frequencies. Results: one hundred-seven individuals were screened, among whom 53.3% were children, 58.9% were males, 41.1% had language complaints and 35.5% had complaints regarding orofacial motor function. The mean waiting time to begin treatment was 6.6 months. Among all individuals screened, 80.3% began treatment. The treatment, more frequently, addressed orofacial motor function (39.1%) and language (37.9%). Discharge from treatment occurred in 28.6% of cases. Among the 37 individuals whose treatment was discontinued prior to completion, the main reason was abandonment/absences on the part of the patient (71.4%). Conclusion: the speech therapy care profile revealed a greater frequency of children, males and needs regarding language and orofacial motor function. The mean waiting time was 6.6 months and 20% of the individuals screened did not initiate treatment. A high frequency of discontinuation prior to completing treatment was found, due, mainly, to failure on the part of the patients to attend the sessions.

Intervenção fonoaudiológica e anuência familiar em caso de criança com encefalopatia crônica não progressiva

O objetivo foi descrever como a não aderência ao tratamento fonoaudiológico em um caso de disfagia na encefalopatia crônica não progressiva pode levar a pneumonias de repetição. É seguida no HCPR uma criança, atualmente com cinco anos de idade, com diagnóstico de encefalopatia crônica não progressiva e disfagia desde o nascimento, com episódios repetidos de pneumonia cuja mãe não seguia as orientações terapêuticas determinadas pela fonoaudióloga. Na videofluoroscopia foi observada aspiração com a consistência liquida e não com a pastosa. Foi indicada gastrostomia para alimentação e hidratação, sendo permitida a ingestão via oral da consistência pastosa. A família não seguiu as orientações indicadas, a criança continuou ingerindo líquidos por via oral e, sendo assim, teve vários episódios de pneumonia. Embora a mãe tenha sido orientada a não fornecer alimentação líquida por via oral e sim pela gastrostomia, tal orientação não foi seguida, sem motivo aparente para que tal fato ocorresse. Fica evidente a importância da aderência familiar às orientações terapêuticas para que sejam evitadas complicações pulmonares decorrentes da aspiração de alimentos.
