ABSTRACT:The broiler rectal temperature (t rectal ) is one of the most important physiological responses to classify the animal thermal comfort. Therefore, the aim of this study was to adjust regression models in order to predict the rectal temperature (t rectal ) of broiler chickens under different thermal conditions based on age (A) and a meteorological variable (air temperature -t air ) or a thermal comfort index (temperature and humidity index -THI or black globe humidity index -BGHI) or a physical quantity enthalpy (H). In addition, through the inversion of these models and the expected t rectal intervals for each age, the comfort limits of t air , THI, BGHI and H for the chicks in the heating phase were determined, aiding in the validation of the equations and the preliminary limits for H. The experimental data used to adjust the mathematical models were collected in two commercial poultry farms, with Cobb chicks, from 1 to 14 days of age. It was possible to predict the t rectal of conditions from the expected t rectal and determine the lower and superior comfort thresholds of broilers satisfactorily by applying the four models adjusted; as well as to invert the models for prediction of the environmental H for the chicks first 14 days of life.KEYWORDS: thermal environment, poultry, thermal comfort, mathematical modeling, physiological responses. MODELOS DE REGRESSÃO PARA A ESTIMATIVA DA TEMPERATURA RETAL DE FRANGOS DE CORTE DURANTE OS PRIMEIROS 14 DIAS DE VIDA RESUMO:A temperatura retal (t retal ) de frangos de corte constitui uma das principais respostas fisiológicas para a classificação da condição de conforto térmico animal. Sendo assim, objetivou-se com este trabalho o ajuste de modelos de regressão para predizer a t retal de frangos de corte em diferentes situações térmicas ambientais, em função da idade (I) e de uma variável meteorológica (temperatura do ar -t ar ) ou de um índice de conforto térmico (índice de temperatura e umidade -ITU, ou índice da temperatura do globo e umidade -ITGU) ou da grandeza física entalpia (H). Em adição, por meio da inversão desses modelos e dos intervalos de conforto esperados com base na t retal e idade, determinaram-se os limites de conforto de t ar , ITU, ITGU e H para os pintinhos na fase de aquecimento, que auxiliaram na validação das equações ajustadas e na definição de limites preliminares para H. Os dados experimentais utilizados para o ajuste dos modelos de regressão foram registrados em dois galpões comerciais, com aves da linhagem Cobb, de 1 a 14 dias de idade. Foi possível predizer, satisfatoriamente, a t retal de frangos de corte pelos quatro modelos gerados, bem como inverter os modelos para a predição das condições ambientais a partir da t retal esperada e determinar, desta forma, os limites inferior e superior de conforto para a H, para os primeiros 14 dias de vida do pintinho.

RESUMOO Vale do Taquari apresenta uma grande quantidade de indústrias alimentícias e curtumes, que lançam seus efluentes no Rio Taquari, além de um cemitério em Área de Preservação Permanente, localizado no município de Muçum. Este trabalho teve como objetivo realizar análises físico-químicas e microbiológicas da água do Rio Taquari e comparar pontos à montante e à jusante de três locais considerados potencialmente poluidores. Os locais escolhidos foram um cemitério e um curtume no município de Muçum, e um curtume seguido de um frigorífico de frangos no município de Roca Sales. Foram realizadas análises de pH, turbidez, oxigênio dissolvido (O 2 ), nitrogênio total (N) e coliformes termotolerantes. Realizou-se também o isolamento de Escherichia coli seguido de testes de resistência aos antibióticos neomicina, rifampicina, clindamicina e penicilina. As análises físico-químicas realizadas neste estudo mostraram que somente a turbidez, em quatro dos seis pontos analisados, apresentou valores acima do permitido pela legislação para águas de classe I, sendo que estes valores elevados provavelmente têm origem inorgânica. As bactérias isoladas no ponto à jusante do cemitério e à montante e à jusante das indústrias de Roca Sales foram sensíveis à neomicina, rifampicina e clindamicina, e resistentes à penicilina. Pode-se concluir, portanto, que mesmo com a liberação dos poluentes, não existe uma interferência significativa na qualidade da água nos três locais analisados do Rio Taquari.Palavras-chave: análises físico-químicas, atividades antrópicas, efluentes. Water quality near three sources of potential contamination of the Taquari River -RS ABSTRACTThe Taquari Valley has several food industries and tanneries which release their effluents into the Taquari River, as well as a cemetery in a Permanent Preservation Area in Muçum town. This study performed physicochemical and microbiological analyses of water from before and after three Taquari River sites considered potentially polluting and compared the results of those samples. The chosen sites were a cemetery and a tannery in Muçum and a tannery next to a poultry processing plant located in Roca Sales. We analyzed pH, turbidity, 76 Thais Muller et al.Rev. Ambient. Água vol. 11 n. 1 Taubaté -Jan. / Mar. 2016 dissolved oxygen (O 2 ), total nitrogen (N) and thermotolerant coliforms. We also isolated Escherichia coli and performed resistance tests to neomycin, rifampicin, clindamycin and penicillin antibiotics. The physicochemical analyses showed that only turbidity, in four out of the six analyzed spots, had values above the established threshold of class I water. These elevated values are probably of inorganic origin. Bacteria isolated from the samples collected after the cemetery and both before and after the Roca Sales industries were sensitive to neomycin, rifampicin and clindamycin, and resistant to penicillin.
