The objective of this study was to determine prediction equations to estimate the nitrogen-corrected apparent metabolizable energy (AMEn) values of animal meals used in broiler diets through meta-analysis. A bibliographic review was undertaken with studies conducted in Brazil from 2000 to 2016 to catalogue information on AMEn values and the following chemical elements in the composition of the feedstuffs: crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), gross energy (GE), mineral matter (MM), calcium (Ca), and phosphorus (P). Groups were also catalogued and formed according to sex and age of birds. Chemical correlations were analyzed, and a multiple linear regression model with the stepwise procedure was used to examine the association between the variables, which were included in the equation as a function of their importance. High and significant correlation coefficients between the independent (GE, MM, CP, EE, Ca, and P) and dependent variable (AMEn) contribute to the understanding of variations in the energy values of these feedstuffs. According to the coefficients of determination, the best equations to estimate AMEn of poultry offal meal and meat and bone meal are AMEn = 6139 − 45.5 CP + 0.356 GE −123.5 MM (R 2 = 0.8302) and AMEn = 2267 + 19.9 CP + 67.9 EE − 44.4 MM (R 2 = 0.9021), respectively.

Com o objetivo de elaborar equações de predição dos conteúdos de energia digestível (ED) de alimentos proteicos de origem vegetal, utilizados em rações para tilápias, inicialmente realizou-se uma revisão sistemática na literatura nacional. Posteriormente foi realizada uma análise descritiva dos dados. Para verificar a associação entre os componentes químicos e os valores energéticos, calcularam- -se os coeficientes de correlação de Pearson. A equação de predição foi obtida utilizando-se o método Stepwise,considerando-se um nível de significância de até 5%. O ajuste das equações foi realizado com o auxílio do software SAS 9.0. A equação foi avaliada comparando os valores por ela estimados com aqueles observados nas Tabelas Brasileiras para a Nutrição de Tilápias (2010), utilizando-se o teste t para amostras pareadas. Pela análise de correlação entre os valores energéticos e os componentes quími- cos dos alimentos observou-se que a ED apresentou maior correlação com a PB (r=0,678). Pela técnica Stepwise, apenas o conteúdo de proteína bruta (PB) foi selecionado para compor a equação: ED (kcal/ kg)=536,26+57,78PB(%) (R2 = 0,64; P<0,0002). Pelo teste t não se observou diferença (P=0,1533) entre os valores observados nas tabelas e os valores preditos pela equação. Com base nos resultados, para predizer o conteúdo de energia digestível de ingredientes proteicos de origem vegetal para tilápias em função da composição química, pode-se utilizar a equação: ED=536,26+57,78PB, em que ED é a energia digestível (kcal/kg de MN), PB é o teor de proteína bruta (% na MN).Palavras-chave:Formulação de rações. SUMMARYThis study evaluates nutritional value and use of babassu mesocarp supplementation in the feeding of broilers. Initially, the chemical composition was determined in order to characterize the ingredient. Then two tests were conducted: the first, to determine the energy values and the second, the optimal supplementation level in the diet. The metabolism trial was conducted using 20 Leghorn cockerels divided into two treatments with five replicates of two birds each. The experiment lasted ten days, five adaptation days and five days for stool collection. Subsequently, 500 one-day-old broiler chicks were used in the growth trial. The design was completely randomized, with four treatments and five replications. Treatments consisted of four levels of babassu mesocarp supplementation: 0, 3, 6 and 9%. The growth trial lasted 21 days and the responses to feed intake, weight gain and feed conversion were evaluated. Based on natural matter, the babassu mesocarp has 87.5%, 3.29%, 1.1%, 2.7%, 75.1% and 3,618 kcal/kg for the variables dry matter, crude protein, ash, crude fiber, starch and gross energy, respectively. The corrected apparent metabolizable energy determined was 2,671 kcal/kg, based on the natural matter. The babassu mesocarp due to its low crude protein content and high starch level can be classified as an energy ingredient. The babassu mesocarp supplemented in the feed of broilers adversely affected the performance of broilers during the initial stages of growth. KEY-WORDS:Nutritional value. Alternative food. Resistant starch. Babassu palm. RESUMOEsta pesquisa objetivou avaliar o valor nutricional e a utilização do mesocarpo de babaçu na alimentação de frangos de corte. Inicialmente, a composição química foi analisada para caracterizar o ingrediente. Em seguida dois ensaios foram conduzidos: o primeiro para determinar os valores energéticos e o segundo o nível ideal de inclusão na ração. O ensaio de metabolismo foi realizado utilizando 20 galos Legorne, distribuídos em dois tratamentos com cinco repetições de duas aves cada. O período experimental foi de dez dias, cinco dias de adaptação e cinco dias de coleta de excretas. Em seguida, 500 pintos de corte com um dia de idade foram utilizados em ensaio de crescimento, delineamento inteiramente ao acaso, com quatro tratamentos e cinco repetições. Os tratamentos consistiram de quatro níveis de inclusão do mesocarpo de babaçu: 0, 3, 6 e 9%. O ensaio de crescimento teve duração de 21 dias e foram avaliadas as respostas para consumo de ração, ganho de peso e conversão alimentar. Com base na matéria natural, o mesocarpo de babaçu apresentou 87,5%; 3,29%; 1,1%; 2,7%; 75,1% e 3.618 kcal/kg de matéria seca, proteína bruta, matéria mineral, fibra bruta, amido e energia bruta, respectivamente.
