Show more

“…However, Mendes et al (2010) partially replaced soybean meal by urea or starea in diets with 40% corn silage of lactating (110 days) Saanen and Pardo Alpina goats (primiparous and multiparous) and reported 2.24 kg DMI/day (3.40% BW); the values were similar to the observed in this study. These variations may be related to body weight, productive stage and diet composition.…”

“…Rodrigues et al (2007) reported values from 1.18 to 1.34 of feed efficiency for Alpine goats (60 days of lactation) fed diets with the same amount of energy but different levels of protein. However, Lima (2010) reported values from 0.89 to 1.45 of milk yield efficiency for Saanen goats from 60 days of lactation and Mendes et al (2010) observed 1.15 of feed efficiency for goats with 110 days in milk. Thus, milk yield efficiency may be related to the productive potential and the intake capacity of each animal.…”

“…Fonseca et al (2008) observed a mean value of 25.73 mg/dL for Alpine goats fed diets containing different protein levels (115 g/kg to 175 g/kg). Mendes et al (2010) evaluated the replacement of soybean meal by urea or starch-urea in the diets for Saanen-Alpine goats and observed N-urea values ranging from 24.42 to 34.92 mg/dL.…”

“…In relation to composition, this absence of significance can be explained by the correct balance of the fibrous and non-fibrous carbohydrates, as well as by the adequate levels of CP, since these are the main responsible for the nutritional factors which modify such contents (FREDEEN, 1996). According to Mendes et al (2010), the absence of alteration in the milk protein content indicates that there was no limitation in the metabolizable protein by providing diets containing source of non-protein nitrogen.…”
