ABSTRACT. This study aimed to evaluate different digestible lysine levels in diets for broilers chickens from different commercial strains, from 49 to 56 days of age, on performance and carcass characteristics. A total of 432 male broilers from 49 days old were used, with an average weight of 3560±250 g. It was used a completely randomized design in a factorial arrangement 3x4, and the birds, from three strains (Cobb 500, Hubbard Flex and Ross 308) were divided into four levels of digestible lysine (0.800, 0.950, 1.100 and 1.250%), with four replicates of 12 birds each. It was evaluated the weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, carcass yield, breast yield, breast meat yield and the yield of the thigh and drumstick. There was no interaction between lysine levels and commercial strains of broiler chickens. The different lysine levels did not influence (p ≥ 0.05) performance and carcass yield. There are significant differences between strains for feed intake and carcass characteristics. The Cobb 500 strain had higher breast yield and breast meat (p < 0.05), while the Hubbard Flex and Ross 308 strains had higher yield of the thigh and drumstick (p < 0.05).Keywords: amino acids, breast meat, performance, genotypes, carcass yield.Lisina digestível para frangos de corte de diferentes linhagens na fase final de criação RESUMO. Objetivou-se avaliar diferentes níveis de lisina digestível em rações para frangos de corte de diferentes linhagens comerciais na fase de 49 a 56 dias de idade sobre o desempenho e características de carcaça. Foram utilizados 432 frangos de corte machos de 49 dias de idade, com peso médio inicial de 3560±250 g. Utilizou-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado em arranjo fatorial 3x4, sendo que as aves, oriundas de três linhagens (Cobb 500, Hubbard Flex e Ross 308), foram distribuídas em quatro níveis de lisina digestível (0,800; 0,950; 1,100 e 1,250%), com quatro repetições de 12 aves cada. Avaliou-se o ganho de peso, o consumo de ração, a conversão alimentar, o rendimento de carcaça, o rendimento de peito, o rendimento de carne de peito e o rendimento de coxa e sobrecoxa. Não houve interação entre os níveis de lisina digestível e as linhagens comerciais de frangos de corte. Os diferentes níveis de lisina não influenciaram (p ≥ 0,05) o desempenho e rendimento de carcaça. Existem diferenças significativas entre as linhagens para consumo de ração e características de carcaça. Sendo que a linhagem Cobb 500 teve maior rendimento de peito e carne de peito (p ≤ 0,05), enquanto as linhagens Hubbard Flex e Ross 308 tiveram maior rendimento de coxa e sobrecoxa (p ≤ 0,05).Palavras-chave: aminoácido, carne de peito, desempenho, genótipos, rendimento de carcaça.

Nitrogen, calcium and phosphorus balance of broilers fed diets with phytase and crystalline amino acids

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of reduced-crude protein (CP) and available phosphorus (aP) diets, added with phytase and amino acids for broilers in the growing (14 to 21 days old) and retirement (35 to 42 days) phases on nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus balance. Ninety Cobb broilers were distributed in a completely randomized design with three treatments and six replications with five and three birds per experimental unit in the growing and retirement phases, respectively. Diets were elaborated to contain reduced CP and aP levels (19 and 17% CP in the growing phase, with 0.34% aP; and 18 and 16% CP in the retirement phase, with 0.30% aP), supplemented with crystalline amino acids and 500 FTU of phytase/kg diet. These were compared to a control diet (21% CP and 0.46% aP for growing phase and 19% CP and 0.40% aP for retirement phase). The reduction of CP in four percentual units reduced the N excretion and increased the retention of this element, showing that the phytase had no influence on N balance when used the crystalline amino acids in the diets. The phytase reduced the P excretion and increased the retention ones. The potassium excretion decreased in reduced-CP diets, but this excessive reduction decreased the retention of this element, except in the retirement phase. It was concluded that the reduced-CP and aP diets, supplemented with phytase and amino acids, are efficient in reducing the pollutant power of the broilers excrements in the growing and retirement phases of production.

Standardized ileal digestible lysine requirement of white commercial layers in peak egg production

This study was conducted to determine the standardized ileal digestible lysine (SID Lys) requirements for white commercial layers in peak egg production phase. A total of two hundred eighty-eight 24 week-old Hy-Line W-36 layers were randomly assigned to one of six treatments groups, with eight replicates of six hens each. A basal diet, SID Lys-deficient, was graded supplemented with L-Lysine HCl (78.4%) in order to produce experimental treatments (6.0, 6.6, 7.2, 7.8, 8.4 and 9.0 g SID Lys/kg diet). Throughout the 16-week-feeding trial (24 to 40 weeks of age) hens had free access to water and mash feed. Data were analyzed as one-way ANOVA and optimum SID Lys level for each dependent variable assessed were estimated using polynomial and linear broken-line regression model. Feed intake and SID Lys intake were both linearly enhanced by graded SID Lys levels. According to linear broken-line regression model, the breakpoint for egg production, egg weight, and egg mass occurred at 8.14, 8.56 and 8.35 g SID Lys/kg diet, respectively. The breakpoint for feed conversion per egg mass (kg/kg) and per dozen of eggs (kg/dozen) occurred at 8.48 and 7.80 g SID Lys/kg diet, respectively. Eggshell weight and albumen weight were unaffected by dietary SID Lys supply. Weight gain and yolk weight reached optimum values at 8.33 and 8.03 g SID Lys/kg diet, respectively, according to linear broken-line regression model. In conclusion, SID Lys requirement for white commercial layers in peak egg production phase is 8.48 g/kg diet, which corresponds to an average daily SID Lys intake of 813 mg/hen.
