Show more

“…Likewise, it was found a high incidence of alterations in the simplified evaluation of auditory processing, and this prevalence of failures is in line with studies that used the same instrument in school and preschool children 16,18,28,33 . Also in line is the observation of a greater difficulty in verbal sequential memory (MSV) and non-verbal sequential memory (MSNV), which evaluate the auditory ability of simple temporal ordering, than in the evidence of location and discrimination of the sound source 11,17,28,33 .…”

“…It has advantages for use in schools, especially for being quick, using simple instruments and being easily accessible and low cost, in addition to being regarded as a sensitive predictor of auditory processing abnormalities (9) . Abnormalities in ASPA feature variations from 23.85% to 44%, with worse performance in younger children (10)(11)(12) .…”

“…The findings of the peripheral auditory evaluation are consistent with the literature, noting a high incidence of hearing loss of the conductive type schoolchildren (18,23) . Conductive loss must be identified and treated as early as possible, since hearing degradation can impair school performance, due to the loss of details that a sound information can possess (24) . The identification of hearing changes and appropriate interventions are necessary to facilitate the learning process.…”

“…The identification of hearing changes and appropriate interventions are necessary to facilitate the learning process. It is a consensus that the effects of hearing sensory deprivation are reflected in the global development of a child, sharply compromising the educational context (24) . Students with hearing within the standards of normality, but with unsatisfactory school performance, presented in this study worse performance in the figure-background ability, evaluated with the application of DDT, in relation to the group with satisfactory school performance, which presented 100% of normalcy (Table 4).…”
