Synthesis and characterization of zeolite NaP using kaolin waste as a source of silicon and aluminum

Abstract: The synthesis of zeolite NaP using kaolin waste, from the Amazon region, as a predominant source of silicon and aluminum has been studied. The zeolitisation process occurred in hydrothermal conditions using static autoclaving and the effects of time, temperature, and the Si/Al ratio were investigated. The starting material and the phases formed as reaction products were characterized by XRD, SEM and FTIR. The results showed that pure zeolite NaP is hydrothermally synthesized, at 100 °C for 20 hours, using meta… Show more

“…In addition, new low intensity peaks noted at 1508 and 1550 cm −1 were ascribed to the aromatic N-H secondary amine group [ 28 ]; other new peaks appearing around 3621 and 3738 cm −1 were ascribed to stretching vibrations of O−H group [ 29 ]. These spectral changes indicate the interactions between PAN nanofibers and NaHCO 3 functionalization by the formation of polar interactions between the functional groups of both components.…”

“…After the PAN nanofiber was treated with NaHCO3, the spectral peaks appearing at 1095, 1664 and 2931 cm −1 shifted to the lower wave number positions 1074, 1662, and 2925 cm −1 , respectively, while other peaks such as 1225, 1360, and 3319 cm −1 shifted to the higher wave number positions 1240, 1362, and 3321 cm −1 , respectively [28]. In addition, new low intensity peaks noted at 1508 and 1550 cm −1 were ascribed to the aromatic N-H secondary amine group [28]; other new peaks appearing around 3621 and 3738 cm −1 were ascribed to stretching vibrations of O−H group [29]. “…The band associated with Si-O deformation is detailed to be 1040 cm -1 . 37 The band at 796 cm −1 is assigned to the Si-O-Si symmetric stretch. 38 Besides, a strong peak at 544 cm -1 indicates the presence of Si-O-Al stretching vibrations.…”
