Attachment of inorganic moieties onto aliphatic polyurethanes

Abstract: Polyurethanes have been used in a series of applications due basically to their versatility in terms of controlling the behavior by altering basically the type of reagents used. However, for more specific and advanced applications, such as in membranes, biomaterials and sensors, well-organized and defined chemical functionalities are necessary. In this work, inorganic functionalities were incorporated into aliphatic polyurethanes (PU) having different macromolecular architectures. Polyurethanes were synthesize… Show more

“…In accordance with [29,30], our results show that highly transparent PU can be produced primarily with the B-component HDI. The non-disperse low opacity and fluorescence of resPUR-OT-3000 are caused by the B-component MDI.…”

“…It is well known that aromatic isocyanates are more reactive than aliphatic ones and lead to products with better mechanical properties [28]. Aliphatic isocyanates result in polyurethanes that do not discolor under the influence of light or heat and are highly transparent and thermally stable [29,30]. These media have long pot life, that simplifies the manufacturing process.…”

“…The bands at 1100, 1150, and 1715 cm À1 observed in the spectra of both coatings before immersion are assigned to C-O-C, C-O, and C=O bonds, respectively. 48 Other bands at 2853, 2925, and 2953 cm À1 were identified as C-H and H-C-H stretching bands. 49 The broad band at ca.…”

“…This implied that the PU100 and PU70 demonstrated molecular mobility of the –CH groups. 31,32 This was possibly related to the molecular behaviors in solution of the PU100 and PU70. The solutions of PU100 and PU70 showed little molecular interaction and entanglement.…”
