Show more

“…Leite et al (2012) showed that the use of vegetal extract did not affect the seeds metabolism of Mimosa caesalpiniaefolia Benth and even favored the control of pathogens, increasing the viability of seeds. The same behavior related to the speed of germination was also reported by Xavier et al (2012), in seeds of cowpeabeans (Vigna unguiculata L.). Between the biological products, Trichodermil ® and Trichoplus ® were more effective in the reduction of fungus population in all the packages.…”

“…The encapsulation of citronellal resulted in GI of 79 ± 3.5%. Xavier et al (2012) reported that citronella oil and its constituents could influence the germination index of cowpea beans, reducing the vigor of the seeds. Encapsulation of the repellents in nanoparticles increased the germination percentage, compared to the nonencapsulated repellents, indicating a protective effect of the nanoparticles.…”

“…On the other hand, the results of the germination test, first germination index and GRI reveal a phytotoxic effect of the essential oils on the moringa seeds (Table 2). This effect has previously been observed on seeds of Vigna unguiculata treated with citronella oil Xavier et al (2012) [37]. Analyzing the effect of essential oils on the control of pathogens and the germination of corn seeds, Jardinetti et al (2011) [38] found that the thyme oil reduced the GRI when compared to the negative control.…”
