A estética do sorriso está sujeita a diversos fatores, dentre eles, sobressai cor, textura e forma dos dentes, acrescentam-se a arquitetura e coloração do tecido gengival aparente. Deste modo a importância da idealização e a previsão de todos os fatores cirúrgicos e protéticos envolvidos no tratamento ortodôntico são de grande importância, buscando à supressão de problemas que possam causar dano a saúde como também comprometer a estética dental O objetivo do trabalho é: descrever a importância do planejamento para adequação do espaço protético no tratamento ortodôntico, descrever os fundamentos biológicos que justificam a utilização do tratamento ortodôntico pré-protético, caracterizar algumas etapas clínicas na adequação do espaço no tratamento ortodôntico, com base em evidências científicas e nos princípios da odontologia. A técnica de pesquisa utilizada foi baseada em livros, artigos científicos, teses e dissertações de mestrado e doutorado, com foco na área Ortodontia e Prótese Dentária. Nos consultórios de ortodontia é cada vez maior o número de pacientes adultos, que apresentam múltiplas percas dentárias, Além de proporcionar um problema estético para o paciente, esta ausência dentária impede a reabilitação protética dos dentes perdidos, pois o espaço interoclusal para a reconstrução da coroa se torna insuficiente, necessitando de uma adequação do espaço protético prévio ao tratamento reabilitador, com isso conseguimos uma melhora tanto na estética, como na função e consequentemente na longevidade de todo o tratamento reabilitador.

Introduction: When miniplates are used as anchoring for orthodontic mechanics for anterior open bite correction by retraction of anterior teeth and posterior teeth intrusion and retraction, orthodontically induced inflammatory external apical root resorption is clinically negligible. Methods: A homogeneous sample of 32 patients was used, and the roots of the teeth were compared on CT scans performed before and after orthodontic treatment. Results: The observed root resorption was minimal, and this can be explained by the uniform distribution of forces in several teeth, simultaneously, in the set of the dental arch and in the bone that supports the teeth. Conclusion: The most important thing to prevent root resorption in orthodontic practice, besides being concerned with the intensity of the applied forces, is to be careful with its distribution along the roots of each tooth, in the dental arch and in the bone that supports the teeth.

The aim of this work is to present a case report where an osteointegrated implant was used as skeletal anchorage unit in association with fixed orthodontic appliance in the treatment of an adult patient with vertical asymmetrical skeletal discrepancy. In this case report, the pre-existing osseointegrated implant in the region of element 21 was used as an aid of skeletal anchorage for the leveling of the upper occlusal plane by means of the straight-wire technique, Capelozza standard I slot .022 ", using the sequence of arches of nickel-titanium thermo-activated .014 ", .016", .017 "X.025" and .019X.025 ", followed by the steel arch .019" X.025". The results presented in this report demonstrated the osteointegrated implant as a good option, when used as anchorage resource to help orthodontics, providing better conditions of comfort and esthetics, as well as simplifying the technique.
