Show more

“…Consequently, this system provided larger amounts of N compared to the conventional urea system. According to Rodrigues et al (2014), the slow or gradual release of fertilizers depends on having water and soil temperatures equal or greater than 21 ºC for the proper release of the nutrients to the plants. Therefore, it is likely that the coating was The effectiveness of a coated fertilizer depends on the solubility of the polymer-coated granule and the rate of hydrolysis, which regulates the nutrient supply process.…”

“…Among these advances, there is a search for new coated fertilizers as urea granules coated with various materials (resins, waxes, polymers, etc.) may depend on the characteristics of the polymers and increase efficiency through a gradual nutrient release mechanism (CIVARDI et al, 2011;RODRIGUES et al, 2014). The gradual release of nitrogen fertilizer has several benefits.…”

“…This character is of extreme importance for the crop, since it is determinant for the best balance of the plant (Kappes et al, 2011;Nardino et al, 2016b). Research has shown that this characteristic can be influenced by the intraspecific competition of plants per unit area (Kappes et al, 2011;Nardino et al, 2016c), high levels of nitrogen fertilizers (Santos et al, 2010), potassic fertilizers (Rodrigues et al, 2014), and characteristics of the genotype used (Meira, 2006). Studies have determined that 83% of modern corn genotypes show a height of spike insertion of around 1.3 m (Sawazaki & Paterniani, 2004).…”

“…According to Rodrigues et al (2014), K has great impact on the quality of the corn crop, with positive influence on the individual mass of grains and number of grains per ear, which evidences that the increase in crop yield depends, among other factors, on the increase in the absorption of the nutrient. Still according to the previously mentioned authors, after N, K is the element absorbed in highest amount by corn and 30% is exported in the grains, which would explain the observed decrease.…”
