A B S T R A C TThe objective of this research was to evaluate the internal thermal environment of two broiler barns featuring different ventilation systems representative of Brazilian and South American poultry production industry: (a) a negative-pressure tunnel and (b) a positivepressure lateral ventilation system. Environmental parameters such as dry bulb temperature, relative humidity and temperature-humidity index were assessed; temperature maps for day and night average conditions were determined for the first three weeks of life. Better uniformity of the thermal environment and comfort conditions inside the negative-pressure tunnel were found.Ambiente térmico em dois galpões de frangos de corte nas três primeiras semanas de vida R E S U M O Objetivou-se, nesta pesquisa, avaliar o ambiente térmico interno de dois galpões de frangos de corte com diferentes sistemas de ventilação representativos da indústria de produção de aves de corte brasileira e sul-americana: (a) um com pressão negativa tipo túnel e (b) outro com ventilação lateral e pressão positiva. Parâmetros ambientais do conforto térmico, tais como temperatura de bulbo seco, umidade relativa e índice de temperatura e umidade, foram avaliados; mapas de temperaturas médias para as condições de dia e noite foram determinadas nas três primeiras semanas de vida das aves. Melhor uniformidade ambiental e condições de conforto térmico no interior do galpão com pressão negativa foram observadas.

RESUMO:Objetivou-se avaliar o uso de diferentes tipos de coberturas, em modelos reduzidos de galpões avícolas, a partir da análise dos índices de conforto térmico, em experimento conduzido na região Central do Brasil. Foram utilizados 03 modelos de galpões avícolas (em escala reduzida 1:10), sendo que em cada modelo foi utilizado um material de cobertura diferente, a saber: telha cerâmica, telha alumínio e telha de fibra vegetal asfáltica (reciclada). Para a análise deste estudo, foram coletados dados de temperatura do bulbo seco (Tbs), temperatura do globo negro (Tgn), umidade relativa do ar (UR) e velocidade do vento (vv), durante 9 dias. A caracterização do ambiente interno foi feita pelo Índice de Temperatura de Globo Negro e Umidade (ITGU), Carga Térmica Radiante (CTR) e efetividade (ε), sendo observado valores médios de ITGU de 75,65 e CTR de 453,09 W.m -2 para a telha cerâmica. Os resultados permitem concluir que para a região de estudo, a utilização de telha de cerâmica, quando comparada às demais telhas testadas, propicia melhores condições de conforto térmico. THERMAL CONFORT OF REDUCED SCALE MODELS OF POULTRY SHEDS WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF ROOFINGABSTRACT: The goal of this work was to evaluate the thermal comfort index of reduced scale models (1:10) of poultry houses with different roofing materials. This study was conducted in Central Brazil. Three models of poultry sheds were used with different cover material: ceramic tile, aluminum tile and asphalt, and paper tile (recycled). To analyze the models, information about the dry bulb temperature (Tbs), black globe temperature (BGT), relative humidity (RH) and wind speed (vv), were collected during nine days. The thermal comfort was evaluated and classified through black-globe humidity index (BGHI), thermal heat load (THL), and effectiveness (ε). Average values of 75.65 and 453.09 W.m -2 for BGHI and THL, respectly, were observed in ceramic tile roofing. The results showed that the ceramic tiles provide better thermal environment in reduced scale models of poultry houses.

RESUMOThis study aimed to develop a decision-support system based on fuzzy set theory, which can estimate welfare depending on the production responses of broiler chickens raised in climatic chambers. In the first phase, the influence of four different air temperature conditions on the performance of broilers was identified. Thus, the effect of air temperature on productivity was evaluated. In the second phase, a model was developed using the fuzzy set theory, in which feed intake responses, weight gain, and feed conversion were established according to age and the air temperature at which the birds were maintained, obtaining an efficient evaluation of the thermal environment. The results indicate that the proposed methodology is a promising technique for the determination of the level of thermal comfort endured by broilers, capable of assisting in making decisions on control of the thermal environment, avoiding productivity losses.Key words: mathematical models; environmental comfort; climatic chambers. Efeito do ambiente térmico sobre o desempenho de frangos de cortes usando modelagem fuzzyEste estudo teve como objetivo desenvolver um sistema de apoio à decisão com base na teoria dos conjuntos fuzzy, que pode estimar o bem-estar de acordo com as respostas de produção de frangos de corte criados em câmaras climatizadas. Na primeira fase, identificou-se a influência de quatro diferentes condições de temperatura do ar sobre o desempenho dos frangos. Assim, foi avaliado o efeito da temperatura do ar na produtividade. Na segunda fase, foi desenvolvido um modelo usando a teoria dos conjuntos fuzzy, onde as respostas consumo de ração, ganho de peso e conversão alimentar foram estabelecidos de acordo com a idade e a temperatura do ar em que as aves foram mantidas, para obtenção de uma avaliação eficaz do ambiente térmico. Os resultados indicaram que a metodologia proposta é uma técnica promissora para a determinação do nível de conforto térmico sofrido por frangos de corte, capazes de auxiliar na tomada de decisões sobre o controle do ambiente térmico, evitando perdas de produtividade.Palavras-chave: modelos matemáticos; conforto ambiental; câmaras climáticas. 338Flávio Alves Damasceno et al.
