This study investigates differences between Pedagogy and Teachers' Certificate in Mathematics undergraduates, males and females, from public and private institutions with respect to motivational orientations, cognitive styles and perception of pedagogical practices for creativity implemented by their teachers, as well as relationships between these variables. Three hundred and sixty-five students answered scales regarding motivation to learn, cognitive styles, and teaching practices for creativity. Intrinsic motivation predominated in the private university students and extrinsic motivation in the public university students. The data revealed differences between courses, gender and type of university concerning cognitive styles. Private university and pedagogy students had a more positive perception of professors' teaching practices that promote creativity. Positive relationships were observed between the factors of the instrument of pedagogical practices for creativity, intrinsic motivation and nonconformist transformer style, and between the various cognitive styles and intrinsic and extrinsic motivational orientation.

A dor lombar crônica caracteriza-se por uma síndrome incapacitante, que perdura após o terceiro mês, a contar do primeiro episódio de dor aguda e pela gradativa instalação da incapacidade. Estratégias de adaptação podem ser capazes de reduzir efeitos negativos ocasionados por este quadro, portanto pesquisar o perfil das pessoas criativas frente à dor crônica assume uma importância fundamental, quando pode reunir novos conceitos no que diz respeito aos sintomas físicos e emocionais relacionados à dor lombar. Participaram da pesquisa 37 sujeitos portadores de dor lombar crônica, selecionados segundo diagnóstico médico na Interclínicas da Faculdade de Jaguariúna, município de Jaguariúna -SP. Foram utilizados como instrumentos a Escala Visual Analógica (EVA) que avalia a intensidade da dor, onde os escores variam de zero a dez, escala do perfil criativo contendo 72 itens do tipo Likert de seis pontos, composto de adjetivos descritores da personalidade criativa e a aplicação de um questionário complementar. Observou que o sexo feminino demonstrou maior propensão para a dor lombar crônica, 6,13 pontos na escala EVA, maior frequência de atividades de lazer e maior pontuação nas médias da utilização de estratégias criativas frente à dor em relação aos homens. Concluiu-se que as mulheres apresentaram maior incidência de dor lombar crônica e níveis mais elevados de dor, mas também um maior índice de estratégias criativas frente ao problema. AbstractChronic back pain is characterized by a disabling syndrome that persists after the third month after the first episode of acute pain and the gradual installation of disability. Adaptation strategies maybe able to reduce negative effects caused by chronic back pain, so search the profiles of creative people facing the chronic pain is of paramount importance when you can meet new concepts with regard to physical and emotional symptoms related to low back pain. Participated in the study37subjects with chronic back pain, selected according to medical diagnosis in the Faculty of Interclínicas Jaguariúna County Jaguariúna-SP. Were used as tools to Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) assessing pain intensity, wheres cores range from zero to ten scale creative profile containing 72 items Likert six points, compound adjectives descriptors of creative personality and the application a supplementary questionnaire. Observed that females showed greater propensity for chronic low back pain, about 6.13 points on the VAS scale, higher frequency of leisure activities and higher scores on average use of creative strategies regarding pain compared to men. It was concluded thatwomen had a higherincidence ofchronic low backpain andhigher levels ofpain,but alsoa higher degree ofcreative strategiestackle the problem.Descritores: Dor. Dor lombar. Sexo.
