This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different irrigation depths and harvest dates in sweet potato for conversion to biofuels. Irrigation treatments were 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1.0 of crop evapotranspiration rates and a control treatment (without irrigation). Harvest dates were: 90, 120, 150, 180, and 210 days after planting (DAP). The sweet potato cultivar BRS Cuia (RNC-27.315) was utilized. The experimental design was a randomized block in factorial arrangement (irrigation depths combined with harvest dates) with four replications. Reference crop evaporation was calculated based on the method of FAO Penman-Monteith. Drip irrigation system was used and irrigation frequency was every seven days. The highest and lowest yield were at 90 and 210 DAP, respectively. The lowest yield variation was between 120 and 150 DAP. Control treatment had highest yield in all harvest dates. Efficient water use was greater with irrigation of 0.25 of ETc with 116.9 and 218.8 m 3 ha at 90 and 210 DAP, respectively. Starch content, crude protein, length and diameter of the root, and yield were influenced by different irrigation depths and harvest dates.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar a dose ótima de K e seu efeito residual sobre a produtividade máxima e a qualidade de tubérculos de batata (Solanum tuberosum). O experimento 1 foi realizado em solo com baixo teor de K (38 mg dm-3), em delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições, cujos tratamentos constituíram-se de cinco doses de K - 0, 110, 220, 440 e 880 kg ha-1 de K2O -, na forma de KCl, aplicados em pré-plantio ao sulco. O experimento 2 foi realizado no mesmo local, com o teor residual do fertilizante aplicado no experimento 1. A fertilização potássica e seu efeito residual influenciaram significativamente o número, a produtividade e a matéria seca dos tubérculos. No entanto, altas doses de K reduziram o teor de matéria seca e a gravidade específica dos tubérculos. O teor residual de K não influenciou todos os componentes de produtividade. A dose de máxima eficiência econômica foi 393,5 kg ha-1 de K2O, que propiciou a máxima produtividade de tubérculos comerciais de 36,2 Mg ha-1, no experimento 1, e de 19,6 Mg ha-1, no experimento 2.

Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências (2016) ABSTRACTThis work evaluated the effects of ionizing radiation on the physico-chemical and sensory characteristics of the potato cultivar Ágata (Solanum tuberosum L.), including budding and deterioration, with the end goal of increasing shelf life. For this, four groups of samples were harvested at the maturation stage. Three of them were separately exposed to a Co-60 source, receiving respective doses of 0.10, 0.15 and 2.00 kGy, while the non-irradiated group was kept as a control. All samples were stored for 35 days at 24 °C (± 2) and at 39% relative humidity. The following aspects were evaluated: budding, rot, loss of weight, texture, fl esh color, moisture, external and internal appearance, aroma, soluble solids, titratable acidity, vitamin C, protein, starch and glucose. The results indicated that 0.15 kGy was the most effective dose to reduce sprouting and post-harvest losses, under the conditions studied.
