“…On the other hand, in April, with K at the highest level, individuals had already recovered. These data coincide with those of Vazzoler & Braga (1983) and Vazzoler (1996). R. paranensis Figueiredo-Garuti & Garuti (1991) observed that the species has three reproductive periods: August/September, November/January, and March.…”

“…Similar results have been obtained by Martins-Juras (1980) for M. furnieri. Vazzoler & Braga (1983) showed that in Cynoscion jamaicensis, there was a certain constancy in the condition factor values in relation to the length of mature specimens during a one-year period. Vazzoler & Vazzoler (1965) had already observed that in Sardinella brasiliensis this constancy did not exist, as the young extract of this species presented K values greater than those of the adult extract.…”

“…From 19 cm, individuals of this species are already adult (VAZZOLER; BRAGA, 1983;CASTRO et al, 2002) and as this species has a high commercial value it is possible that the gull has fed only on head or carcass of these individuals, which has possibly been discarded on the beach, as the region of Barrancos presents a routine handling of fish on the beach that provides discards and portions not marketed or consumed. Other species with high representativeness during the closed season in this area was Micropogonias furnieri, often caught incidentally by driftnet and fixed gillnets (CHAVES; ROBERT, 2003), which confirms the use of discards of other fishing gear by L. dominicanus during the closed fishing season.…”

“…Entre cabo de São Tomé (SC) e Torres (RS) os estratos mais jovens concentram-se ao norte e a desova ocorre de setembro a novembro (Vazzoler & Braga, 1983). Já, para Vazzoler et al (1989), a desova da espécie na costa sudeste do Brasil ocorre Ao sul da Barra de Santos, na região do Bom Abrigo e cabo de Santa Marta Grande, as medianas de comprimento tenderam a ser menores do que para as outras áreas.…”
