Objective: to analyze the family relationship, in childhood and adolescence, of women who experience conjugal violence. Method: qualitative study. Interviews were held with 19 women, who were experiencing conjugal violence, and who were resident in a community in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee (N. 42/2011). Results: the data was organized using the Discourse of the Collective Subject, identifying the summary central ideas: they witnessed violence between their parents; they suffered repercussions from the violence between their parents: they were angry about the mother's submission to her partner; and they reproduced the conjugal violence. The discourse showed that the women witnessed, in childhood and adolescence, violence between their parents, and were injured both physically and psychologically. As a result of the mother's submission, feelings of anger arose in the children. However, in the adult phase of their own lives, they noticed that their conjugal life resembled that of their parents, reproducing the violence. Conclusion: investment is necessary in strategies designed to break inter-generational violence, and the health professionals are important in this process, as it is a phenomenon with repercussions in health. Because they work in the Family Health Strategy, which focuses on the prevention of harm and illness, health promotion and interdepartmentality, the nurses are essential in the process of preventing and confronting this phenomenon.

The aim of this study was to understand the experiences of women victims of domestic violence. The study entailed phenomenological research based on the theoretical framework of Maurice Merleau-Ponty, developed with ten women who were victims of domestic violence treated at a women's healthcare center in a municipality in the interior of the Brazilian state of São Paulo. Nuclei of meanings emerged from the statements, based on the analysis of the phenomenon of violence from the interviews, and led to the following themes: living with fear; living with physical injuries; and the decision to file a report after the violence experienced. The results showed that the experience lived and contained in these women's bodies enabled each one of them to evaluate their own existence, arousing the desire to leave the situation in order to exercise their role in the world. Thus, their bodies instrumentalized their beings, and allowed them to break the cycle of domestic violence.

A violência contra a mulher consiste em qualquer ato baseado no gênero, que resulte, ou que venha a resultar em dano físico, sexual, psicológico ou sofrimento para a mulher e deve ser abordada como problema de saúde, no qual é necessária a visão interdisciplinar para acompanhamento ou solução do mesmo. Trata-se de estudo ecológico de múltiplos grupos, que visa descrever o perfil sociodemográfico da violência contra a mulher a partir de notificações no Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação do município do Rio de Janeiro no período de 2008 a 2017. Foram notificados 29.629 casos de violência contra as mulheres, com predominância na faixa etária de 20 a 29 anos (29,1%), pertencentes a etnia parda (35,90%) e com ensino médio completo (11,30%). Houve predomínio de violência física com 58,9% dos casos em residência da vítima (53,6%). A violência contra as mulheres constitui grave problema de saúde pública. Devido a magnitude das consequências, o seu enfrentamento é desafiador, sendo necessário atuação interprofissional e intersetorial, planejamento, aplicabilidade e avaliação das políticas públicas.

Abstract: this knowledge contributes to the delineation of specific actions that aim at facing this problem, as well as generates subsidies for adequate attendance proposals and guidance for the victims who call on health services.
