Objective:To identify the workloads present in the work activities of community health agents (CHAs) and the resulting strain processes. Method: A descriptive, exploratory, cross-sectional and quantitative study conducted with 137 CHAs. Data were collected through a questionnaire and interview guided by the health surveillance software called SIMOSTE (Health Monitoring System of Nursing Workers), following the ethical codes of the current law. Results: In total, were identified 140 workloads involved in 122 strain processes, represented by the occurrence of health problems of the CHAs. The mechanical (55.00%) and biological (16.43%) loads stood out. The most common strain processes were the external causes of morbidity and mortality (62.31%) and diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue (10.66%). Conclusion: From the identified overloads, it became evident that all workloads are present in the work process of CHAs, highlighting the mechanical load, represented mainly by external causes of morbidity and mortality that are related to occupational accidents.

Background:Healthcare professionals encounter many medical risks while providing healthcare services to individuals and the community. Thus, occupational safety studies are very important in health care organizations. They involve studies performed to establish legal, technical, and medical measures that must be taken to prevent employees from sustaining physical or mental damage because of work hazards.Objectives:This study was conducted to determine if the occupational safety of health personnel at community and family health centers (CHC and FHC) has been achieved.Martials and Methods:The population of this cross-sectional study comprised 507 nurses, 199 physicians, and 237 other medical personnel working at a total of 18 family health centers (FHC) and community health centers (CHC) in Trabzon, Turkey. The sample consisted of a total of 418 nurses, 156 physicians, and 123 other medical personnel. Sampling method was not used, and the researchers tried to reach the whole population. Data were gathered with the Occupational Safety Scale (OSS) and a questionnaire regarding demographic characteristics and occupational safety.Results:According to the evaluations of all the medical personnel, the mean ± SD of total score of the OSS was 3.57 ± 0.98; of the OSS’s subscales, the mean ± SD of the health screening and registry systems was 2.76 ± 1.44, of occupational diseases and problems was 3.04 ± 1.3 and critical fields control was 3.12 ± 1.62. In addition, occupational safety was found more insufficient by nurses (F = 14.18; P < 0.001).Conclusions:All healthcare personnel, particularly nurses working in CHCs and FHCs found occupational safety to be insufficient as related to protective and supportive activities.

RESUMOO presente estudo consiste em uma pesquisa de corte transversal, descritiva, com abordagem quantitativa dos dados, realizada em um porto marítimo no Extremo Sul do Brasil. Apresenta como objetivo identificar, de acordo com a percepção dos trabalhadores portuários avulsos, a ocorrência de problemas de saúde relacionados ao trabalho. A amostra constituiu-se de 306 trabalhadores, calculada com base em diagnóstico situacional. Para a coleta de dados, utilizou-se a entrevista estruturada. A entrada dos dados foi realizada no programa EPINFO 6.04 d, e o cálculo das proporções, no programa Statistical Package for the Social Sciences 16.0 (SPSS). Destacaram-se os distúrbios osteoarticulares e os transtornos mentais como os mais identificados pelos trabalhadores, obtendo-se as porcentagens de 71,90% e 41,50%, respectivamente. A enfermagem do trabalho dispõe de instrumentos de trabalho preventivos capazes de intervir nos agravos que afetam os trabalhadores, sendo, para tanto, imprescindível o conhecimento da sua realidade de trabalho para a efetiva utilização de instrumentos promotores de saúde do trabalhador.Palavras-chave: Enfermagem. Doenças Profissionais. Saúde do Trabalhador. INTRODUÇÃOA saúde do trabalhador, área em crescente desenvolvimento, necessita da aplicação de uma visão contextualizada, que forneça instrumentos para a modificação da relação entre o trabalho e o processo saúde-doença. Essa relação sofre alterações decorrentes dos condicionantes de caráter econômico, técnico, político e socioambiental das relações trabalhistas estabelecidas no interior do processo de trabalho, o que pode conduzir à produção de agravos à saúde dos trabalhadores e à degradação socioambiental. Tal constatação enfatiza a importância de atuar de maneira articulada (1) sobre os referidos condicionantes materiais.O estudo dessas condições é, por sua natureza material (sócio-histórica), complexo, pelas diversas características e dimensões a serem explicadas. Salienta-se que a concepção do fenômeno relação entre trabalho e o processo saúde-doença não é um limitador para sua apreensão, mas é um alerta para os limites que a área em estudo impõe e, ao mesmo tempo, para as possibilidades de avançar o conhecimento.
