INTRODUCTION: The cancellation of surgery represents a dilemma in establishing relatively adequate cancellation rates according to the factor, because each institution and surgical specialty have different dynamics. Objective: Describe the types of factors present for the cancellation of surgeries in a health institution. Colombia (2017-2018). METHODOLOGY: Descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional study. We reviewed (3339) records of scheduled surgeries from January to December 2017. In 2018 they were reviewed (1733) between January and June. A total of (5072) records of a Third Level Health Institution of the Department of Cesar / Colombia were reviewed. The Neuronal Multilayer Perceptron Network model and the Gini coefficient were applied to determine the most important factor and therefore the inequality between them. RESULTS: In 2017, there was a surgical cancellation rate of 4% of the total number of scheduled surgeries (3339). For the year 2018, the rate was 3% of the total of scheduled surgeries (1733). The most important factor was due to the patient's adverse conditions. The surgical specialties that had the highest number of cancellations were general surgery followed by orthopedics. CONCLUSION: An evaluation of the factors for the cancellation of programmed surgeries with a high coefficient of inequality is described. In addition, the most important factor was related to the patient. Prospective studies by specialty are proposed for the design of solution and monitoring strategies to avoid surgical cancellations.

Abstract. This study evaluates the types of biomass that can be used in boilers for the production of steam and hot water for the Lauro Wanderley University Hospital located in the city of João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil, using average cost of production and business model analysis (Business Model Canvas). The study was conducted to subsidize a system for the optimization of the energy resources to be adopted by the hospital, as the design of a product or service production system can identify opportunities to reduce costs and environmental damage. The energy demand of the hospital was surveyed. Only firewood, sugarcane bagasse and pellets were considered in the analysis, as these are the types of biomass allowed in the specified boiler. The results showed that the pellets were the costliest resource, whereas firewood exhibited the best results considering the average cost of production and the business model. This information supports more consistently the adequate inclusion of this resource in the hospital superstructure and, consequently, the optimization of the polygeneration system, allowing clearer verification of decreased costs and environmental impacts.Keywords: Biomass, polygeneration system, cost of production, hospital. IntroductionOver the last few years, the use of multiple energy sources in energy supply systems to guarantee reliability and improve energy use has been gaining attention [1][2][3][4][5][6]. Polygeneration, as it is more commonly known, is defined as the combined production of two or more energy services to reach the maximum use of the various energy sources used. Its main advantage is the efficient use of these sources, as it requires detailed study of the generation-consumption ratio, the reliability and continuity of the energy supply and the system's improvements compared to autonomous systems. Polygeneration and energy integration are promising tools for achieving better efficiency in the use of natural resources and, in most cases, also reducing the environmental impacts generated [2]. Examples of the application of polygeneration systems include the commercial [7][8][9], domestic [10][11], and industry [12][13] sectors Some consumption units, such as hospitals, exhibit high energy consumption and require continuous and simultaneous electric and thermal energy [14][15][16]. Therefore, hospitals are excellent units with potential for deploying polygeneration systems, as their comfort conditions and electricity, hot water, heating and air conditioning demands must be continuously met. There are recent studies on the optimization of polygeneration systems in hospitals [17][18][19]. Gestão por Padronização de Processos: A percepção dos Enfermeiros de Centro Cirúrgico

RESUMO:Objetivo: revelar a visão de Gestores Enfermeiros de Centro Cirúrgico sobre o modelo de gestão por padronização de processos. Método: pesquisa exploratória, descritiva, com abordagem qualitativa, realizada no segundo semestre de 2011. A população-alvo deste estudo foram 19 alunos do Curso de Pós-Graduação de Enfermagem em Centro Cirúrgico da Universidade Luterana do Brasil (ULBRA), dos quais sete participaram por meio de entrevistas com perguntas abertas, analisadas pelo método de Bardin. Resultados: após a análise emergiram seis categorias: o entendimento sobre processo de trabalho; a relevância da padronização de processos; os resultados obtidos com a padronização; a adesão e o envolvimento da equipe; as ferramentas aplicadas, e o monitoramento através de indicadores. Conclusão: todos os entrevistados reconhecem que padronizar promove o desenvolvimento orientado de seu trabalho, refletindo diretamente nos resultados. Este estudo abre espaço para maiores discussões no que diz respeito ao pouco tempo dedicado às atividades gerenciais em detrimento da necessidade da atuação assistencial. Gestão.ABSTRACT: Objective: to reveal the vision of Surgical Center nurse-administrators on the management model by standardization processes. Method: an exploratory, descriptive study with qualitative approach carried out in the second half of 2011. Nineteen nurses from the Surgical Nursing Graduate program at Universidade Luterana do Brasil -ULBRA were the target population of this study; nine of them participated through interviews conducted with open questions analyzed by the Bardin method. Results: the following six categories emerged after analysis: understanding the work process, the importance of process standardization, results obtained with standardization, membership and staff involvement; applied tools; and monitoring by indicators. Conclusion: all respondents recognize that standardization motivates the whole team to develop their work, reflecting directly in the results.
