Conquistas na divulgação do conhecimento de enfermagem

Abstract

Nursing has become more prominent among the health sciences day by day due to the production of clinical and basic research that establish the scientific base for the individual and family care during all phases of life. This production has gained visibility both within society and academia by means of published articles in scientific journals issued all around the world. In 2006 the field had positive examples of recognition from important indexing bases, which until then, reserved little space to nursing journals. The International Scientific Index (ISI) developed an exclusive category for nursing periodicals in the section Science Citation Index Expanded® in the Web of Science and expanded the coverage of nursing periodicals to 61 indexed nursing periodicals in the Web of Science®-component of the ISI Web of Knowledge. This was really a great achievement to the world of nursing. However, there is still predominance of Anglo-Saxon journals and none of the Latin American journals was included so far, not even those from Brazil where there are about 40 nursing periodicals. Several of them are already included in the Medline because of their good editorial quality and relevance of the published research.
