Maria Rosa Sousa Pinheiro e a reconfiguração da enfermagem brasileira

Abstract

RESUMO: Trata-se de estudo exploratório-descritivo, fundado no método histórico que objetivou identificar a participação feminina nas transformações sociais decorrentes da americanização no Brasil pós-1930. Para tanto, apresenta-se a trajetória de Maria Rosa Sousa Pinheiro. Os dados em análise foram obtidos através do material documental do Centro Histórico Cultural da Enfermagem IberoAmericana. Esses dados permitiram reconhecer a personalidade em foco, que atuou de modo decisivo na reconfiguração da arte e ciência do cuidado no Brasil. Os resultados permitem afirmar que a enfermagem propagou ideais do American way of life na medida em que o modelo de formação e exercício profissional advinha de países como Estados Unidos e Canadá. As análises consideram que a atuação de Maria Rosa Sousa Pinheiro consubstancia a disseminação de uma nova representação do feminino na esfera social e do trabalho. DESCRITORES:Mulheres. MARIA ROSA SOUSA PINHEIRO AND THE BRAZILIAN NURSING RECONFIGURATIONABSTRACT: This exploratory-descriptive study funded on historical method aimed at identifying female participation in the social transformations arising out of the Americanization process in Brazil, post-1930. For this purpose, Maria Rosa Sousa Pinheiro's trajectory is presented. Data used for analysis were collected through documents found in the archives of the Historical-Cultural Center for Iberian-American Nursing. Such data allowed for recognizing the person in focus who acted decisively towards the reconfiguration of the art and science of care in Brazil. The results permit us to affirm that nursing helped to disseminate the ideals of the American way of life as the model for professional education and practice from countries like Canada and the United States.
