Plant growth regulators on the pre-harvest period of 'Pêra' oranges

Abstract: This research evaluated the effects of auxins and gibberellins applied at pre-harvest on the quality of orange juice. Orange trees, Citrus sinensis Osbeck, cv. 'Pêra' were sprayed in three applications, at 45-day intervals, with the following treatments: GA3 + 2,4-D at 12.5mg L-1 each; GA3 + 2,4-D at 25mg L-1; GA3 + 2,4-D at 37.5mg L-1; GA3 + NAA at 12.5mg L-1; GA3 + NAA at 25mg L-1; GA3 + NAA at 37.5mg L-1; NAA + 2,4-D at 12.5mg L-1; NAA + 2,4-D at 25mg L-1; NAA + 2,4-D at 37.5mg L-1, and a control. The treat… Show more

“…For instance, the application of 3,4,5-TPA was found to increase the total acid content of Fina clementine mandarins; however, significant differences in the acid concentration were not observed due to an increase in the volume of juice (Agustı´et al 1995). Nevertheless, except for titratable acidity, major internal fruit characteristics were not affected by auxin treatments, as previously observed by other researchers (Coggins 1981;Lima & Davies 1984;Pons et al 1992;Davies et al 1999;Agustı2 000;Pozo et al 2000;Saraswathi et al 2003;Almeida et al 2008). …”

“…The major internal fruit quality, including rind thickness, juice content, total soluble solids, total acid and ascorbic acid, were generally not affected by 2,4-DP-P treatments, as previously observed by other researchers (Davies et al, 1999;Agusti, 2000;Pozo et al, 2000;Saraswathi et al, 2003;Almeida et al, 2008;Yazıcı et al, 2016;Ferrer et al, 2017).…”
