Objective. To identify factors associated with the level of knowledge of the disease in people with type 2 Diabetes. Methods. A cross-sectional study carried out with 412 people with diabetes registered in the Primary Health Care network of a Brazil Northeast municipality. For data collection, we used a questionnaire with sociodemographic and clinical variables and to identify the level of knowledge, we used the Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire. Results. Insufficient knowledge prevailed in 54.7% of the participants, associated in significant bivariate analysis (p<0.05) with the sociodemographic variables: age (≥ 60 years old), marital status (without a partner), education (up to complete / incomplete elementary school), family income (≤ 1 minimum wage). For clinical variables, the level of insufficient knowledge was significantly associated with not participating in an educational group, not using insulin, and not practicing physical activity. In logistic regression, we observed that the factors that increase the risk for insufficient knowledge were: never having participated in an educational group (OR=2.0), age ≥ 60 years old (OR=2.2), illiterate and primary education (OR=8.3) and income less than or equal to 1 minimum wage (OR = 2.4). Conclusion. The level of knowledge of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus about their disease is insufficient, with socioeconomic and educational characteristics being the factors that increase the odds of having this level of knowledge.

Background SARS-CoV-2 causes the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and it is weakening all health systems. Therefore, the most vulnerable populations are exposed to harmful consequences, such as illness and death. Thus, this study aims to estimate the temporal effect of COVID-19 dissemination on social indicators of the Northeastern region of Brazil. Methods An ecological time-series study was developed with the following: diagnosed cases of COVID-19 in the largest inland cities of Northeast Brazil, Human Development Index (HDI), poverty incidence, and Gini coefficient. Cities with high HDI, poverty rate, and Gini presented a larger number of patients. Results It was observed by evaluating case trends that COVID-19 spreads unevenly in inland cities of the Northeastern region of Brazil. Conclusions In this sense, we emphasize that regional health managers should support small cities with vulnerable population and social assistance.

A Saúde Coletiva representa um campo científico abrangente que reúne a produção de conhecimentos de diferentes áreas do saber. Objetivou-se conhecer a percepção sobre a área da Saúde Coletiva. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, tipo inquérito, realizado com 605 acadêmicos de odontologia no período de 2009 a 2018. Foram incluídos discentes que estavam no início do curso de uma IES pública e a questão norteadora foi “o que é saúde coletiva?”. O processamento dos dados foi realizado com o software Iramuteq e foi realizada a classificação hierárquica descendente – CHD. Foram excluídas palavras com frequência de citação inferior a 5 vezes e classes de palavras que individualmente não tinham significância como artigos e preposições. Foram encontradas 7 classes de palavras, a partir dos corpus textuais, que demonstram a percepção da área pelos discentes: “Primeira atividade clínica”; “Oferta da atenção à saúde pelo poder público”; “Educação e prevenção”; “Tratamento de doenças”; “Cuidados a grupos populacionais”; “Promoção de saúde” e “Atenção à população carente e Direito à saúde”. A classe “Primeira atividade clínica” não se relaciona com as demais, por representar a condição do discente frente ao contato com o paciente. Todas as outras classes apresentam um eixo comum, com foco na atenção à saúde no que tange ao conceito de saúde coletiva. Conclui-se que na ótica do discente a saúde coletiva está voltada para grupos populacionais, com foco na gratuidade da assistência, assim como, o primeiro contato com o paciente na universidade. Abstract Community health perform a comprehensive scientific field that brings together the production of knowledge from different areas of knowing. This research aimed to know the perception about the community health area. This is a descriptive, survey-type study carried out with 605 dental students from 2009 to 2018. The undergraduate students who were at the beginning of course in a public university were included and the guiding question was “what is community health?”. Data processing was performed using the Iramuteq software and the descending hierarchical classification (CHD) was performed. Words whose frequency were below five times and words classes that individually had no significance such as articles and prepositions were excluded. Seven words classes were found that demonstrate the students' perception of the area: “First clinical activity”; “Provision of health care by the public authorities”; “Education and prevention”; “Disease treatment”; “Care for population groups”; “Health promotion” and “Attention to the needy population and the right to health”. The class “First clinical activity” is not related to the others, as it represents the condition of the student in relation to clinical activity. All other classes have a common axis, focusing on health care with regard to the concept of collective health. It can be concluded that from the student's point of view, collective health is aimed at population groups, with focus on free assistance, as well as the first contact with the clinic at the university by undergraduate students.
