Objective: To investigate the knowledge of nursing students about the care provided to patients with neoplastic wound.Method: This is an exploratory research of a qualitative nature, which was attended by 15 students of the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the Center of Education and Health of the Federal University of Campina Grande, campus Cuité -PB, in the period from October to November 2015. For data collection, we used a form for an interview. The data were analyzed through the Technique of Thematic Analysis of Minayo.Results: From the analysis of the empirical material emerged the following thematic categories: Category 1. Defining neoplastic wounds; Category 2. Knowledge incipient on 'neoplastic wounds' for academic and professional practice; Category 3. Envisioning the theme "neoplastic wound" in the Academy; Category 4. Knowledge about methods of evaluation of neoplastic wounds and Category 5. Knowledge of therapeutic modalities of neoplastic wounds. Conclusions:The academics know the evaluative method of a patient with neoplastic wound as integralizadora unit of care process; recognize palliative care as the best therapeutic modality for these customers, especially when they are in completion and indicate the products contraindicated in the treatment of these lesions; however, do not mention the covers and recommended substances for the IntroductionCancer is a genetic disease from a result of a series of injuries in the DNA or anomalous expression of normal genes, which will modify the coordinating functions of the proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis cells, leading to the mutation and malignant cellular phenotype. With the replacement of normal cells by the cancerous ones, the invaded tissues become losing their functions and, finally, the appearance of an exophytic lesion occurs [1-2].The World Health Organization (WHO) has projected some perspectives about cancer, but called attention to a serious situation: we can expect about 27 million incident cases, 17 million deaths and 75 million people alive, annually, with cancer, being the developing countries the most affected ones, among them Brazil. According to estimates from 2016/2017, Brazil should register in the year 2017 about 596 thousand new cases of cancer. Among men, there are expected 295,200 cases, and among women, 300,800 cases [3].The proportional distribution of the five most estimated types of cancer in 2016/2017, according to the National Cancer Institute [3], has a primary location in the male gender: prostate (28.6%); trachea, bronchi and lungs (8.1%); colon and rectum (7.8%); stomach (6.0%) and oral cavity (5.2%); already in the female gender: breast (28.1%); colon and rectum (8.6%); cervix (7.9%); trachea, bronchi and lungs (5.3%) and stomach (3.7%), not taking into account non-melanoma skin cancer in both genders, considered the most prevalent in Brazil.Among patients with cancer disease, about 5% to 10% of them progress to wounds, be resulting from a primary tumor or from malignant cell proliferation. Objective: To understand the relationship between caregivers and patients who are undergoing the process of finitude with the environment where they are during this process. Method: This is a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive research. According to the saturation criterion, there were 19 participants: 10 patients (5 in palliative care at home and 5 in curative care in Intensive Care Units -ICU) and 9 relatives of the respective patients. They responded to a narrative interview, which is characterized as an instrument that makes it possible to understand how the participant perceives and experiences the environment around her/him. For the analysis of the material, the interview was interpreted through textual analysis using the Iramuteq software. Results: The results indicated great adversities in the process of finitude in both environments: ICU and home; however, the family environment is seen as promoting quality of life and of death with dignity by patients, due to the support network offered by family and friends. Conclusion: the person-environment relationship in the process of finitude is characterized by affections and meanings, and needs to be taken into account as a facilitator of quality of life. Método: fue un acercamiento exploratorio y descriptivo, cualitativo. Los criterios de saturación incluyeron 19 participantes: 10 pacientes (5 en cuidados paliativos en cuidados domiciliarios y 5 en cuidados curativos en la UCI) y 9 familiares de los pacientes respectivos. Respondieron a un instrumento, la entrevista narrativa, que se caracteriza por ser un instrumento que permite comprender cómo el participante percibe y experimenta el entorno que lo rodea. Para el análisis del material, la entrevista se entendió a través del análisis textual en el software Iramuteq. Resultados: los resultados indicaron grandes adversidades en el proceso de finitud ARTÍCULOS Alves da Costa M., et al. Conclusión: la relación persona-ambiente en el proceso de finitud se caracteriza por afectos y significados, y debe tomarse en cuenta como facilitador de la calidad de vida. Objective: to understand the meanings attributed by health professionals to palliative care assistance in primary health care.Method: a qualitative research, guided by the social phenomenological dimension of Alfred Schütz. Twenty-five health professionals working in one of the three health units and a Family Health Support Center in the city of Natal / RN, Brazil, participated in this study. The fieldwork was carried out through an interview in the year 2015, and the information was analyzed according to the steps of social phenomenology researchers.Results: it was understood that health professionals were able to recognize the need of the other in the practice of palliative care assistance in primary health care. The meanings attributed by health professionals involved the need for an organized system in a health care network that favored the social relationships involved in care. This involves redefining the social attitude of health professionals, in the confrontation of culture and the curative hospital-care model, in palliative care in primary health care, through the inclusion and awareness of the family. SIGNIFICADOS ATRIBUÍDOS POR PROFISSIONAIS DE SAÚDE AOS CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS NO CONTEXTO DA ATENÇÃO PRIMÁRIA RESUMOObjetivo: compreender os significados atribuídos por profissionais de saúde à assistência em cuidados paliativos na atenção primária à saúde.Método: trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, orientada pela vertente fenomenológica social de Alfred Schütz. Participaram 25 profissionais de saúde que trabalhavam em uma das três unidades de saúde e em um Núcleo de Apoio à Saúde da Família da cidade de Natal/RN, Brasil. O trabalho de campo ocorreu por meio de entrevista no ano de 2015, cujas informações foram analisadas conforme os passos de pesquisadores da fenomenologia social.Resultados: compreendeu-se que os profissionais de saúde eram capazes de reconhecer a necessidade do outro, na prática da assistência em cuidados paliativos realizada na atenção primária de saúde. Os significados atribuídos pelos profissionais de saúde envolveram a necessidade de um sistema organizado em rede de atenção à saúde que favorecesse as relações sociais envolvidas na assistência. Isso envolve a resignificação da atitude social pelos profissionais de saúde, no enfrentamento da cultura e modelo da assistência hospitalocêntrica curativista, nos cuidados paliativos na atenção primária à saúde, através da inclusão e conscientização da família.Conclusão: os significados atribuídos aos cuidados paliativos no contexto da atenção primária à saúde envolvem a experiência intersubjetiva dos profissionais de saúde. A partir de práticas de saúde continuadas no processo de interação entre profissionais, rede de atenção à saúde, paciente e família, tendo o contexto domiciliar como uma realidade de cuidado.
