Triagem da atividade antibacteriana in vitro do látex e extratos de Croton urucurana Baillon

Abstract: "In vitro screening of antibacterial activity of the latex and extracts from Croton urucurana Baillon". We evaluated the antibacterial activity of the latex and extracts from different polarities and pharmacogens of Croton urucurana using antimicrobial assays. The pharmacogens were collected in Barão de Melgaço-MT. The extracts were obtained by cold maceration in hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, ethanol and chloroform. They were concentrated in rotatory evaporator and dried in stove. In the disk diffusi… Show more

“…The antimicrobial properties can be attributed to the phenolic compounds, mainly tannins (Oliveira, 2008). These actions can be observed because the tannins can inhibit bacterial enzymes and/or complexing with the enzyme substrates, or its action on bacteria end yeasts cell membranes, or maybe the tannins can acts as a chelate, reducing availability of essential ions for microbial metabolism (Haslam, 1995, Silva et al, 2007.…”

“…There are numerous components in its composition, but its active compounds would be terpenoids, flavonoids and phenols [6]. Phenolic compounds and flavonoids can be considered as antioxidant substances by acting as reducing agents and by free-radical scavenging, since they donate hydrogen to free-radicals [7].…”

“…O antibiograma teve os halos de inibição mensurados com auxílio de um paquímetro considerando ativas as concentrações dos extratos que produziram halos de inibição contra os microrganismos iguais ou superiores a 10 mm diâmetro [22,23,24]. Os resultados foram expressos em milímetros e representa a média aritmética e desvio padrão do diâmetro dos halos de inibição das três repetições dos ensaios.…”
