ABSTRACTStreet running is a sporting practice considered a sociocultural and contemporary phenomenon, however, runners are exposed to risks associated with inappropriate movement or training, resulting in muscle injuries causing pains and physical limitations among runners. The objective was to describe the characteristics associated to the occurrence of musculoskeletal injuries in street corridors in the amateur mode of a capital of the northern region of Brazil. It is a cross-sectional descriptive study carried out with 63 street corridors. Data were collected through the application of the Referred Morbidity Survey and information about the training routine. The results showed that 66.7% of the participants were males, 36.6% with ages between 30-39 years, the most frequent injuries in these corridors were acute nonspecific pain (37.1%), mainly in the knee (27%), with the majority of injuries being caused by the endurance race (72.2%) and without qualified supervised training (64%). The participants presented a mechanism of injury associated with the endurance running and with the knee standing out as the most prevalent anatomical site. A disturbing characteristic was the fact that these runners had a routine to return to the still symptomatic workouts, which may be associated with the practice of physical activity without supervised training.
