Distribution of the endophytic fungi community in leaves of Bauhinia brevipes (Fabaceae)

Abstract: ABSTRACT(Distribution of the endophytic fungi community in leaves of Bauhinia brevipes (Fabaceae)). Endophytic fungi represent large, yet unexplored components of biodiversity. Th is work evaluated the richness and the distribution of endophytes in the leaves of Bauhinia brevipes (Fabaceae). A total of 1110 colonies were recovered from the samples and grouped by their morphological traits into 126 taxa. Th e total number of taxa according to leaf development was: 102 in mature leaves, 93 in recently expanded l… Show more

“…Other studies showed leaves with the highest colonization of endophytic fungi (Souza et al, 2004). Similar to the results obtained in this study, Phomopsis and Pestalotiopsis were also one of the most frequent genera isolated as endophytic (Hilarino et al, 2011;Ferreira et al, 2015). Some fungal genera exhibited specificity in relation to the culture medium of isolation.…”

“…The presence of endophytic microorganisms in medicinal plants has been observed in many species (Hilarino et al, 2011;Premalatha and Kalra, 2013;Bezerra et al, 2015). These organisms are often involved in complex relationships between the synthesis, degradation, and accumulation of secondary metabolites of biotechnological interest (Müller et al, 2016).…”

“…Results of photosynthesis used for plant growth and development but it is also used endophytic fungi to survive in the plant tissue. Thus, the leaves have a higher chlorophyll content is characterized by dark green color, the number and types of endophytic fungi on the leaves higher. Hilarino et al (2011) in his study claimed that differences in the composition of endophytic fungi on the leaves of Bauhinia brevipes influenced by the age of the leaf. The leaves are aging tend to receive more nutrients, so the old leaves to get more chlorophyll, leaf color more green old age.…”

“…Endophytic fungi are microorganisms that are in the plant tissue during certain periods of their life cycle, without causing damage to the plants (Hilarino et al, 2011). It play an important role in balancing ecosystems and benefiting the host such as increasing plant growth (Zheng et al, 2017).…”
