-(Infl uence of environmental variation on Atlantic Forest tree-shrub-layer phytogeography in southeast Brazil). This work assessed data from 32 forest sites in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil, using multivariate analysis to answer the question: Are there fl oristic patterns of the Atlantic Forest tree-shrub layer related to the Serra do Mar and the width of coastal plains in the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo? Three multivariate analyses were performed to investigate the relationship between the tree-shrub fl ora and environmental variation in these 32 study areas. Our analyses demonstrated the infl uence of geo-climatic variation on fl oristic differentiation of tree and shrub species in Atlantic Forest regions generating groups of areas based on similar biotic and abiotic characteristics. These groups support the existence of fl oristic patterns within the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and refl ect tree-shrub species substitution between the study areas as a consequence of annual rainfall, altitude, and mean annual temperature variation linked to a change in the position of the Serra do Mar and an increase in coastal plain width. Preferential species were cited for each group and should be considered in restoration and conservation programs for the phytoecological regions represented by the groups. Key words: Atlantic rain forest, fl oristic composition, multivariate analyses, phytogeography RESUMO -(Infl uência da variação ambiental sobre a fi togeografi a do estrato arbóreo-arbustivo da Mata Atlântica em dois estados do sudeste brasileiro). O presente trabalho analisou dados de 32 remanescentes fl orestais nos estados do Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo, através de análises multivariadas para responder a pergunta: Existem padrões fl oristicos do estrato arbóreo-arbustivo da Floresta Atlântica relacionados a Serra do Mar e alargamento das planícies costeiras nos estados do Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo? Foram utilizadas três análises multivariadas para investigar as relações entre a fl ora arbóreo-arbustiva e a variação ambiental das 32 áreas. As análises demonstraram infl uência de alterações geo-climáticas sobre a diferenciação fl orística das espécies arbóreas e arbustivas da Mata Atlântica. Este fato permitiu gerar grupos com as áreas analisadas baseados em características bióticas e abióticas, sustentando a existência de padrões fl orísticos nos estados do Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo. Os grupos formados refl etem a substituição das espécies arbóreo-arbustivas entre as áreas analisadas como conseqüência de variações da precipitação, altitude e temperatura média anual à medida que modifi ca o posicionamento da Serra do Mar e cresce a planície costeira. Para cada grupo foram designadas espécies preferenciais que devem ser consideradas em programas de restauração e conservação das regiões fi toecológicas por eles representadas. -(Tree and shrub floristics of a fragment of the riparian forest surrounding Boa Vista Stream, Teutônia, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil). The riparian vegetation plays important roles in soil protection and ecosystem conservation. The aim of this study was to inventory the diversity of tree and shrub floristics in a fragment of the riparian forest at Boa Vista Stream, in Teutônia, Rio Grande do Sul State. To survey the species, we performed exploring rides around the fragment, once a month, from March to October 2012. Were identified 50 species, 47 genres, and 24 families. The richest family in species was Fabaceae, followed by Myrtaceae and Euphorbiaceae, following the standards of other surveys on riparian vegetation in Rio Grande do Sul State. Considering the size of the area, the degree of human disturbance in their surroundings, and the number of species in other riparian forest fragments studied in Rio Grande do Sul State, species richness is high. Most species have a wide geographic distribution in the State. As matas ciliares possuem importantes funções na proteção do solo e conservação de ecossistemas. O objetivo do presente estudo foi inventariar a diversidade florística arbórea e arbustiva de um fragmento da mata ciliar do arroio Boa Vista, Teutônia, RS, Brasil. Para o levantamento das espécies, foram realizadas caminhadas em todo o fragmento, uma a cada mês, de março a outubro de 2012. Foram identificadas 50 espécies, 47 gêneros e 24 famílias. A família com maior riqueza de espécies foi Fabaceae, seguida por Myrtaceae e Euphorbiaceae, seguindo os padrões de outros levantamentos em mata ciliar no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Considerando o tamanho da área, o grau de antropização no seu entorno e o número de espécies de outros fragmentos estudados em mata ciliar no RS, a riqueza é elevada. A maioria das espécies possui ampla distribuição geográfica para o Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Palavras-chave: diversidade florística, levantamento florístico, vegetação ribeirinha
