O esquema tradic… Show more

“…The costs of MR and reproduction varied from US$ 1.53 to US$ 8.70 million and US$ 1.27 to US$ 7.37 million, respectively, depending on number of herds being controlled. According to Cardoso et al. (2005), it is possible in practice to reduce milk‐recording costs by adopting larger milk‐recording intervals and/or monitoring smaller numbers of milkings, or even by depending on intermediate MR carried out by the farmer himself.…”

“…The components of MR assumed for PS and PT were the same as those proposed by Cardoso et al. (2005), in which daily manpower was equal to 25% of the minimum salary, the kilometres travelled represented 35% of the gas price (litre), and the mean distance travelled was 150 km.…”

“…On RS strategy there were not considered costs associated to dairy control, genetic evaluation and genotyping. Dairy control costs were just considered starting on strategy PS and it was composed by the technicians charge per day, being equal to 25% of the minimum salary used in Brazil; mileage, which corresponded to 35% of a liter of gas; and average distance covered to realize dairy control, equivalent to 150 km (Cardoso et al 2005).…”

“…Thus, a significant part of the cows present in the genetic evaluation may have less than 10 milk test-day records per lactation. The local costs for carrying out the milk control are related to the transportation, food, and accommodation of the professional who performs the control, who must be paid by the breeder, which can vary between 6.6 to 17.0% of the net revenue of the property (Cardoso et al, 2005).…”
