Purpose Spent mushroom compost (SMC) is a major solid waste product of the mushroom industry and is the material which remains at the end of a mushroom crop. Methods Different proportions of the SMC from Agaricus subrufescens cultivation were tested to produce seedlings and plants of tomato. A commercial substrate was used, both as a control and in combination with the spent compost in different proportions. So two experiments were carried out, the first was the production and evaluation of tomato seedlings and the second was tomato cultivation from seedlings produced in the first experiment. Results The use of different proportions of spent A. subrufescens compost resulted in a decreasing trend of all the parameters in the production of the tomato seedlings. However, in tomato cultivation for all periods of harvest, a positive effect was observed in fruiting when the seedlings were produced with spent A. subrufescens compost in comparison to the commercial control. Conclusion It was concluded that the use of spent A. subrufescens compost for seedling production led to a higher total tomato production compared to previously reported production levels in organic cultivation systems with green, organic and other types of fertilization. These results demonstrated the great potential of spent A. subrufescens compost for use in organic tomato production because of the better quality of harvested fruit.

Resumo: A importância alimentar do tomate orgânico aliado a sua baixa produção na Amazônia e a necessidade de baixo uso de insumos para seu cultivo ecológico o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a produtividade de cultivares de tomate orgânico cultivado em campo e ambiente protegido com alto e baixo nível de insumos. Os experimentos foram conduzidos em ambiente protegido e campo, ambos no delineamento em blocos casualizados completos, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas 2 x 3, sendo a parcela principal composta por dois níveis de insumos e a subparcela pelas cultivares copa (Santa Kruz Kada, IPA 6 e Santa Clara), com cinco repetições de cinco plantas cada. As variáveis avaliadas foram: massa média de frutos total e comercial (g fruto -1), número de frutos total e comercial por planta, produtividade total e comercial de frutos (kg ha -1 ). A cultivar IPA 6 em cultivo protegido exigiu maior uso de insumos para aumentar a massa média de fruto total e comercial, produtividade total e comercial, em campo pode se utilizar baixo nível de insumo. O alto uso de insumos é necessário para aumentar a produtividade total e comercial para a cv. Santa Clara em cultivo à campo, ambiente que também necessita de alto uso de insumos para aumentar a massa média de fruto total e comercial a produtividade comercial da cultivar Santa Kruz. Palavras-chave: Lycopersicon esculentum; cultivo orgânico; cultivo protegido. Abstract:The importance of organic tomato feed associated with their low production in the Amazon and the need for low input to its ecological farming the objective of this study was to evaluate the productivity of organic tomato cultivars grown in field and greenhouse with high and low level inputs. The experiments were conducted under greenhouse and field conditions, both in randomized complete block design comprising plots subdivided into subplots. The plots encompassed of two levels of inputs, while the subplots contained the (Santa Kruz Kada, 6 and IPA Santa Clara), with five replicates of five plants each. The variables evaluated were: total fruit mass and marketable fruit mass (g fruit -1), number of total and marketable fruit per plant, total and marketable fruit yield (kg ha -1 ). The cultivar IPA 6 in greenhouse demanded greater use of inputs to increase the total and marketable fruit mass, total and marketable yield in field can be used for low level input. The high use of inputs is necessary to increase the total and marketable yield for cv. Santa Clara in the growing field, environment which also requires high use of inputs to increase the total and marketable fruit mass, marketable fruit yield of cultivar Santa Kruz.

The black spot disease caused by the fungus Alternaria solani (Ellis and Martin) L. R. Jones and Gront is one of the most important diseases of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.). The control is usually performed with fungicides, resulting in products contaminated with pesticide residues. In recent years, the use of homeopathic medicines has been highlighted in research for disease control. The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro fungitoxicity against A. solani by the homeopathic medicines Propolis, Isotherapic of A. solani and Isotherapic of ash, at 6, 12, 30 and 60CH (hahnemanian centesimal) dynamizations, and Sulphur, Silicea terra, Staphysagria, Phosphorus, Ferrum sulphuricum and Kali iodatum at 6, 12, 30 and 100CH dynamizations. Distilled water and 30% hydroalcoholic solution were used as controls at 12, 30, 60 and 100CH dynamizations. Mycelial growth, sporulation and conidial germination of A. solani were evaluated. The results indicated that for mycelial growth only in Sulphur and Staphysagria 100CH showed suppressive effect compared to both controls. For sporulation, Propolis 6, 30 and 60CH and Ferrum sulphuricum 6 and 30CH caused inhibition and differed from both controls. Isotherapic of A. solani 6CH, Isotherapic of ash 6CH and Ferrum sulphuricum 30CH reduced spores germination of the pathogen. It was also found that distilled water at 60 and 100CH inhibited mycelium growth. These results indicate the potential of some homeopathic medicines for trials aiming to control the black spot disease in tomato crops.
