Capitais sonhadas, capitais abandonadas Considerações sobre a mobilidade das capitais nas Américas (séculos XVIII - XX)

Abstract

Resumo: Este artigo, que serve de introdução ao dossiê, se concentra sobre a questão da mobilidade das capitais nas Américas. Desse modo privilegia dois aspectos, o primeiro aponta transferências como processos que se inscrevem a longo prazo, dando forma a projetos, em que se cruzam dimensões urbanísticas e políticas, sem esquecer os aspectos psicológicos, sem os quais não podemos compreender as motivações de certos deslocamentos; por conseguinte, essas capitais são sonhadas e esses sonhos (políticos ou sociais) são os suportes das discussões e debates, frequentemente acesos, sobre o futuro da nação, do povo. Desse modo, voltemos a dar espaço a esses sonhos como agentes da história da mobilidade das capitais. O segundo aspecto considera que a cada transferência de capital, é uma capital abandonada que surge. Outras tantas rainhas destituídas, destronadas! Essa parte nos convida a voltarmos a atenção para além da nova capital.Observemos o que acontece à antiga capital, como ela se adapta a esse novo estatuto, como o espaço de poder é redefinido, como o sentimento de perda é traduzido entre os habitantes.Tomemos esses atalhos como um convite para ler de outra maneira as relações entre a cidade e o poder.Palavras chaves: Cidade capital.
