Due to the lack of studies comparing Syzygium malaccensis(L) Meer e Perry, Syzygium aqueum Burm.f. and Syzygium jambos (L) Alston Syzygium in relation to the botanical genus Sygygium regarding the physical characteristics, the present research was conducted, aiming at biometrically characterizing each of the three species, as well as comparing them. The fruits were collected from the São Paulo State University (Unesp), School of Agricultural and Veterinarian Sciences, Jaboticabal. Syzygium plants were used for the evaluation of: fruit and seed masses (g); width and length of leaves (cm) and of seeds (cm); percentage of fruit pulp; length of leaf petiole (cm); and leaf area (cm2). Fifty fruits, leaves and seeds of each species were used, with 5 replicates of 10 samples each and the data were submitted to descriptive statistical analysis and organized into frequency tables. For comparative purposes among the species, a blocks randomized design was adopted, being analyzed by the Tukey Test at 5% of probability. The malay and water apple present fruits with high yield of pulp. The fruit of the malay apple are light, with narrow diameter, medium length, broad seeds, narrow and small leaves, with small leaf area. The rose apple fruit present medium mass, width and length, with broad seeds, narrow leaves, medium length and small leaf area. The water apple fruit are light, broad, long, without seeds, with broad leaves, long and having medium leaf area. Comparing the three species of Syzygium studied, it can be concluded that the fruit of malay apple are the largest, but the highest percentage of pulp is found in the fruit of the water apple, due to the absence of seeds.

Averrhoa star fruit, popularly known as star fruit, native to Indonesia and Malaysia, belongs to the family Oxilacedaceae, is an ornamental and fruitful grove that gives rise to star fruit. The study of fruit and seed biometrics provides information for the conservation of the species with effective and sustainable use. In this sense the present study aims to study the fruit biometrics and Brixº content of A. carambola analyzing different populations. The analyzes were performed at the Cytogenetics and Plant Tissue Culture laboratory of the University of Mato Grosso State (UNEMAT), Alta Floresta campus. For biometric analysis, 30 fruits were collected from each population. Total length (mm), total width (mm), basal and apical measurements (mm), fresh mass (gr) and sugar content (%) were evaluated. Biometric data were evaluated by statistical analysis by Tukey test 5% probability, determined by the R program, version 3.3.2 with the aid of the ExpDEs version 1.1 package. Based on this study it can be concluded that the study of biometrics for the species A. carambola L is of great importance, because for this study the presented values of the estimated dimensions were high values for all measurements found except for the population three that presented low sugar content, being considered acid fruits. This factor may be related to soil characteristics, so further studies are recommended.

Este trabalho teve por objetivo descrever as características morfológicas de frutos, sementes e plântulas de Averrhoa bilimbi L. oriundas de frutos imaturos e maduros. Os frutos de A. bilimbi foram separados de acordo com a sua coloração em frutos imaturos e maduros. O registro das características morfológicas dos frutos, sementes e plântulas foram realizados por meio de ilustrações manuais, fotografias e descrições de todos os aspectos morfológicos. Para o estudo da morfologia da germinação e plântula, foram semeadas quatro repetições de 25 sementes sobre substrato papel mata-borrão e levadas ao germinador tipo B.O.D., regulado à temperatura constante de 30°C e regime de luz contínua. Os frutos tanto imaturos como maduros variaram apenas quanto ao tamanho, consistência e coloração, sendo as demais características comuns à espécie. As sementes dos frutos imaturos e maduros diferenciaram-se quanto à turgescência dos tecidos, assim como sua coloração, brilho e textura. A germinação é do tipo epígea e fanerocotiledonar, com início no sétimo dia e término no décimo quinto dia após semeadura, com a obtenção da plântula normal.
