Influência do nitrogênio e das lâminas de irrigação na qualidade fisiológica das sementes de mamoeiro

Abstract: -The objective of this study was to verify the physiologic quality of papaya tree seeds, in function of different levels of nitrogen application and irrigation levels. Papaya tree plants of the Golden cultivar (Solo group) were used set in double and single rows, in a total area of 5.04m² per plant and 120.96m² per plot. Treatments were consisted of five irrigation levels, equivalent to 70, 90, 110, 130 and 150% of the reference evapotranspiration, estimated by the Penman-Monteith (FAO-56) equation and four do… Show more

“…In Viçosa, germination of seeds from plants sprayed with Mo increased 4.4 (2017) and 2.7 (2018) percentage points in comparison to that from nonsprayed plants (Figure 1). These results in Viçosa partially agree with the results of Meireles et al (2003) and Leite et al (2009). In these two studies, seed germination and vigor were improved by either 80 or 640 g ha −1 of Mo sprayed over the plants, in comparison with seeds from nonsprayed plants.…”

“…However, our results contradict the findings of Ahmadvand et al (2012) in soybean and Jankjo et al (2013) in rangeland grasses treated with KNO 3 and positive results were obtained. Meireles et al (2009) reported a negative effect of KNO 3 in the germination of papaya seeds. The positive effects of KNO 3 might be due to nitrate that acts as an oxidization substrate in the metabolic regulatory processes, which involve NADH-NADP in the pentose pathway that metabolizes glucose (Nasri et al, 2014).…”

“…The increase in yield is related to the quality of the seed offered to the farmer and, therefore, the management of the seed production system must be specialized and efficient, in order to obtain the highest seed quality in terms of vigor. The vigor represents the sum of the physiological attributes of the seed, maintaining relation with the environmental factors, mechanical injury, chemical treatment of seeds and nutrition of the mother plant (Carvalho and Nakagawa, 2012;Meireles et al, 2009;Toledo et al, 2009). The nutrient required in greater quantity by the wheat is the nitrogen, which participates in the formation of amino acids, proteins and the composition of the chlorophyll molecule (Benin et al, 2012;Kutman et al, 2011;Viana and Kihl, 2010).…”
