Lesões do sistema urinário em 1.063 cães

Abstract: Pesq. Vet. Bras. 32(8) The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence, epidemiology, clinical signiϐi-cance, and possible associated causes of the urinary system lesions in dogs necropsied between January 1999 and December 2010 at the Laboratório de Patologia Veterinária of the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (LPV-UFSM). To accomplish this, the necropsy reports were analyzed retrospectively. In this time frame, 3,189 dogs were necropsied and about 30% had lesions in the urinary system. In most of th… Show more

“…In dogs, diseases of the urinary tract are common (MAXIE & NEWMAN, 2007) and may be caused by disorders of varied etiology that induce structural and functional changes of the organs and which are diagnosed through its clinical aspects and histopathology (INKELMANN et al, 2012a). However, pathological studies of the urinary tract of small animals are rare and are mostly related to conditions of familial kidney disease or specific diseases (RHA et al, 2000).…”

“…Although there are several studies addressing necroscopic and histopathologic lesions in dogs with chronic kidney disease (CKD) (Cheville 1979, Dantas & Kommers 1997, Peters et al 2005, Inkelmann et al 2012, Silveira et al 2015 in the literature, they do not correlate these lesions with serum calcium, phosphorus and PTH levels, which could better support discussion on the pathogenesis of pathological mineralization in the soft tissue of dogs with uremic syndrome. Thus, the objective of this study was to elucidate or provide subsidies to establish the type of pathological mineralization that occurs in uremic dogs.…”
